Corrupted Files

edited December 1969 in New Users

This already happened twice when I started using Daz on Windows 8:
I am working on a piece, save it, and later when I go reload it it says it couldn't open the file.

The log only says

*** Scene Cleared ***
C:/Users/princessmiwi/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/Scenes/chair.duf (1,1): Syntax error - expected '{' or '['
Error reading file, see log for more details.

...which isn't really helpful...

any ideas on how to recover those files and why that happens?

How did you save the item, as a Scene or a Scene Subset?

It looks liek there is something wrong with the file (missing bracket or parenthesis). Can you find the file at that location? Can you recreate the file if it is just a simple chair?

The DUF format is just a text file, and you can look at it in a text editor, but you shouldn;t have to. I have never heard of this problem before, and it should be reported as a bug to the Mantis Bug Tracker.

Actually, by default the .duf will be a compressed text file - there's a batch convert utility in DS, under Window>Panes(Tabs), that can be used to uncompress the file or you can use an archive tool such as 7Zip.
