Help

I am new to Daz 3D, but not to computer graphics. I downloaded the free version of Daz 3D and quickly saw how powerful it was. I then purchased one of the modules (Justin and Julie) and since that time, all hell has broken lose.

My many emails with techies have proven non fruitful. I have pleaded for a phone number to actually talk to a techie, and while I did get their gate keeper, I got an email saying that they didn't do phone tech help.

Since then, I have some how lost my module that I purchased along with the core Genesis characters in Daz 3D. I need to start everything over, and uninstall or install, or something. I don't recall my user name or password, and I simply need to know where to go now with a deadline bearing down like a gorilla.

I also need to be sent new hot links to down load the module I purchased, and hope that it shows up in the app, since another module I purchased (twins Ethan and Emma) won't show up in my application.

All of this is going on when I need to be doing art work and I can't even have a conversation with the tech dept. at Daz 3D. I love the program, but the CS there really stinks!!

If you were not logged into the site, you would not have been able to post this thread. The username and password that you used for the forums here, is the one that you need to log in to the site.

Once logged in, go to My Account > Product Library, and you will see anything that you have purchased, and you can download it again if you no longer have the files on your PC.

What is the name of your DAZ Content Library? In other words, where did you install the content to? Did you use the DAZ Install manager (DIM)?

When you create a folder of DAZ Studio content, you have to tell DS where it is. Go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and make sure that the correct paths are entered for both DAZ Studio Formats and Poser Formats.

Under user ID, I had forgotten that it needed my email address. I have clicked on my acct. and was able to enter in the necessary words to get inside.

I used DIM to install both modules that I purchased, and it worked for the first one, but not the second.

A week of back and forths with the tech people have not been fruitful regarding my efforts to get my second purchase to show up on the app.

My sense is that I need to complete purge all Daz 3D files from my Mac and start over. If that is the case, how do I completely purge my Mac of the files?

Should I be trying to load my purchased modules when the core application doesn't have what it has had prior to today? I appreciate your help, but as you can see, I need additional assistance.

What are the items that don't show up exactly, a link would be handy?

If you used the DIM to install everything, it will be installed in the correct place, but it may not be where DAZ Studio is looking for it. I don't use a Mac, so I can only be of limited help. I don't see any point in removing DS, and starting over, if there are only a few items that don't show up.

Where are you looking for these items? Are you looking in Smart Content or the Content Library pane? If you run the DIM, and look in the 'Installed' tab, select any item, and right click on it, then select 'Installed Files' That will show you what files have been installed, and where they were installed to.

If you can tell us what items exactly that you are having problems with, we can help a lot more. It is much quicker to post any problems that you have here in the New Users Forum, but please give as much information as possible.

DIM lets you show (by right-clicking) the files that were installed with a product. On a Mac, Spotlight Is Your Friend. Search for the file and see where it landed (if at all). Then make sure that Studio's content manager is looking in the right place for it, as described by others. Don't panic.

Spotlight is truly a friend, be sure have it enabled for the content directory though.

I got up during the night and went back at it, and was able to properly install the modules needed, except for the one of the twins, which I have give up on. At this juncture, I think I am back in business. Thank you for taking the time to assist me, and I will be keeping the screen shots and directions to assist down stream.

    Again, many thanks.
