It has been a while since I have been pounding the pixels and I have to say I am really impressed with what has happened at DAZ. I love the install manager!!!
My question is, what is the difference between the Genesis figure or base, the basic male, M5, etc...
Thanks

Genesis is a base figure mesh that can be morphed into many figures. It allows you to mix morphs into unique characters. You can mix male, female and even different ages and creatures.
Basic male is just what it says, it is a basic male figure morph for the genesis base. It makes a generic male figure using the genesis mesh.
M5 is another morph for the genesis figure.
OK so there is one base figure and the morphs that change it. So when I load basic male I am loading the genesis figure and the basic male morph? So the freak 5 is a Genesis morph too?
Thanks for the reply
Yes you have it right. The generation 5 characters use the same genesis base mesh and are morphs. It really is a neat idea and is fun mixing morphs.
M5 is a morph on the base Genesis figure, but M5 also comes with his own M5 UV set, which is not supported by the base Genesis figure unless you buy M5. In addition M5 comes with a much better male skin than the base Genesis male.
I believe the base Genesis figure supports M4 UVs (I know it does V4), so I think you can use M4 skins on the base Genesis figure without buying M5.
Yes, V4, M4, and K4 skins all can be used on Genesis base. You may need to switch the UV set (you can do this on the Surfaces pane) from V4 (which is the default) to M4, in order to get the M4 skins to align correctly. Switching the UV set may sound complicated, but it's actually a simple procedure.
