Hello friends, purchased Luxus plugin, download Luxrender software, program extracts to folder on desktop. I click on luxrender folder, attachment image is what I'm seeing. Have no idea how to use Daz plugin with Luxrender.

Something is not right, according to Luxrender website, an EXE file is suppose to install Luxrender. Did a forum search, came up with nothing on installing. Readme file is for Blender. Assistance appreciated.

So you installed Luxus and Luxrender. Now open Daz Studio and in the Advanced Render settings choose Luxrender as the render engine and then point Path to Luxrender to where you installed Luxrender to. You won't see the exe when you point to the folder so make sure you choose the right folder.

My pleasure. Good luck just don't expect to learn it fast, take it slow and give it time as it is a whole new animal.

    Szark,
Do you have any tips that can get folks jump started a bit?
I've linked to this from my art studio thread as I have this too but haven't tried it yet. Wouldn't have a clue so he is our guinea pig, lol. Which renders of yours have been done using this? Care to provide a link if you have them in the forums already? Such as your art studio? Time strut your stuff dude- send folks to see those awesome renders that I drool over. I just don't know what you did with what.

TIPS: Humm reading the Luxrender online manual helped me no end. forget Daz Studio surfaces settings, Lux/Octane approach surfaces in a whole new and realistic way. Specular and Reflection are tied together as there are in reality.

Use Linear Tone Mapping Kernal and render using the Luxrender console, then you have complete control over each and every light on the fly. Just make sure you name each light so you instinctively know which one is which.

Pete, need asssistance. Went to path for Luxrender, dialog opened up browse for folder > C > program files > Daz 3D

I go to Luxrender on desktop > imageformats, like in folder above, that's it.

Your illustration shows path to Luxrender.

Which one do I select ?

Click on path to Luxrender > Browse and navigate to where you installed Luxrender, where the Luxrender.exe is stored. Your image in your opening post shows where this is. Though you don't have "Show File Extenstions" turned one in Windows so the EXE will not show up even when browsing in Windows Explorer and you aren't choosing a file but the FOLDER the EXE is stored in.

Hi Pete, here's image of Luxrender path dialog. Show hidden files/folders is turned on, in windows folder option and Luxrender folder.

I just click on LuxRender_32_SSE2_NoOpenCL > ok , then render > LuxRender console pops up exporting a zillion items. I have no idea, what it's doing, console just keeps going on and on and on, like the energizer battery, Lol !!!! After 5 minutes, I click stop luxrender.

You will first get a dialogue box exporting everything, that is the Luxus part doing its job. Once that is done then the Luxrender console should pop up. How long the exporting takes depends on how much is in the scene.

If I was you I would be loading in a Daz Studio primative, give it a texture, throw in a Distnat Light, select the Distant Light, go to the Parameters Pane Option Box and select Change to Lux Light via the Luxus - Luxrender Light command and choose Sun and Sky 2 and hit render. Play with it first before you render anything major. It is all explained in the Luxus Manual that comes with Luxus.

Thanks for all your assistance Pete. Turned on GUI. LuxRender console popped up, rendering sphere. Goodness, it takes forever !! All I did was load a grey sphere > render, 450 x 253. it's still rendering at 15 minutes !! My pc will conk out, before LuxRender finish in a few months :ahhh:

    Excellent, thanx for manual.

Yep that is Luxredner all right...so slow.I am saving up for the Octane Plug-in for Daz Studio which uses Cuda for rendering, so it uses the GPU (Graphics card) and it can use two cards to render at the same time as well taking minutes/hours instead of days. My good freind Laticis is playing with Octane now http://laticis.deviantart.com/ (Nudity warning) and getting some awesome results.

Octane looks very cool. Laticus renders are awesome ! Card I'm getting has 960 cuda cores, one I have now is 118. EVGA has a 3072 cuda card at a grand ! Ok ! Lol !

Will check out your render thread. You've been tremendous help, thank you so much. I'll stay plenty busy this weekend
