    Thanks.

The rain is 4 sets of Fog tool deluxe http://www.daz3d.com/fog-tool-deluxe-iii

Well one then 3 node instance copies. That gave enough layers to cover the scene with rain.

Fantastic news about the spotlight! Can't wait to try it. "Spotlight with falloff (that is faster than an Area light)" would have sold me, but having all the other features is wonderful!

I'd say one thread. Every sane DS renderer is buying that one the instant it's out too. ;)

Don't know about being "sane" but buying that instantly ... yes probably! I really love the Advanced Ambient Light (though have only started scratching the surface of what can be done with it so far...)

No attempt to discriminate against the differently sane was intended. :D *Pauses to listen to voices* From any of us. I mean me.

...finally, what I've been waiting for. A Spotlight with falloff.

Uberspot's had falloff this entire time, although I'll most likely be replacing it with AoA's spotlight.

Which brings me to the question:
Will this new spotlight have a way to do texture maps on the color node for overlay effects, and barn doors (basically something I can fully replace US with)?

Yes, UberSpot and the DS point lights all have falloff. In the past I have used them all a lot because falloff always seems to make quite a difference.

The advanced spot does have texture projection (blurable too) but does not have barn doors like UberSpot.

Here is the user guide so you can see more about it...

Oooo, those will mix really well with my Simple Godrays when they're out.

Thanks! Those 'gobos' look fun. I can do without the barn doors. :D

Both of these use your AA regular lights with standard spotlights. I think they'd be even better with AA spotlights.

I asked Marketing to hold them for November sometime. I already have notes in the manual on how to use them with your AA lights. If the timing works out I'll add notes on the spotlights as well.

    It's here
    http://www.daz3d.com/new-releases/advanced-spotlight

Though (maybe strangely?), the bundle with both lights is a power up item while the spotlight by itself isn't.

Which is leading to wishlisting ... because I have a good chance to get to tier2 once more and get the superawesomesauce megaprice, if I am sensible about my spending my money. *sniff*

    Unfortunately no:
AAL came out the first week of PC anniversary
    http://www.daz3d.com/pc-anniversary-sale-week-1
"Purchases from this sale cannot be returned after rewards are redeemed"
Very funny ... being punished for buying at once ...

I second that. I would have paid the $5.60 over the cost of the last one to get both in the bundle. I am certainly not not buying the new one at $10.47 making it a total of $18.84. Please help.

If you didn't redeem your points, that does not matter.

Well I bought it oct. 15 for 30% off, after week 1 was closed, so it didn't count as a tier point. I did redeem my Week 1 rewards though. So can I return it?

In this case you can give it back and get the bundle instead.
Support is flooded with requests, it may take some time to get your money back (you will have to specify how you want it back - as store credit or back to your Paypal account or whatever), but you will get it back.

I am NOT getting the bundle or the spotlight - the maths is telling me I am a loser in each case.

The bundle in this case was a bad idea.

In my opinion, it is a must-have item if rendering in DAZ Studio with 3Delight... but yeah, quite awkward for folk already owning Advanced Ambient Light.

***edit*** but that said, it's actually worth every cent of its asking price, it's just the perception of pricing not looking quite right. ***end of edit***

So it is just my "perception"?

I'm saying it would be a shame if the actual value of the product gets lost in the dissatisfaction with how the store promotions have been set up.

Also, we don't even know if the store is showing the correct offers, there have been store errors pretty much every day for a while now, so might be worth seeing if anything gets altered after DAZ staff start work (about 6-7 hours from now?).

If there were no other promotions going on at the moment, I'd be biting your hand off to get these lights at the standard price... but I'm equally hoping to get the best products at the cheapest prices too.

Good luck with doing your work with one hand.
It is a hobby for me, I don't want to be angry at my content and this one would make me angry each time I am using it.
I have not bought (as in not ever, not even very beautiful/useful things) when using the thing would remind me of my anger.
Until we get official word about this it will be in the middle of the night for me and my tomorrow is too late to get the 44% off ...

There's no doubt in my mind that I want these lights (I haven't even touched UE since buying AAL), but I bought AAL when it was released. Point or not, I'll still be buying the spotlight on it's own. Just going to give it until later in the day and hope AoA ok's the spot product on it's own to go towards points.

My reading of DAZ's verbiage is that items "cannot be returned." That is not the same thing as saying that there is no price protection. I've asked Jack to get clarification on it, but my recomendation was that, rather than try to get the spot added to the sotre as a point item, to confirm that people who buy the bundle today can get price protection. That way everyone wins - DAZ and AoA gets the well deserved sales, early adopters don't feel ripped off for not having waited.

Me, I don't give a flip about getting the point for the bundle, as I've already cleared Tier 2 for the first three weeks. What I am upset about is not being able to play with the spot immediately, as I'm currently on the far side of the planet from my rendering PC.

...never bought the UberSpotlights because at the time I was still working on my duo core 32 bit notebook and using anything with the "uber" prefix pretty much insured a crash during rendering.
