lights make scene bronze

Hi,
I thought I'd solved this buy it seems I hadn't, however I have found the reason for it. It happens when viewed through a camera with the headlight switched on and set to < 0.1. Why? I have scene lights on, in fact the plane the figures is stood on has an emissive aplied to it. It renders perfectly well but I have to switch on preview lights to edit the scene.
Thanks

Edited. I thought it was solved but only the mystery as to what's happening is solved it still makes no sense that it's happening.
Thanks for viewing.
