I have that issue sometimes too. Hmmmm, what do you mean by delete? Like uninstall?
do you use a firewall?
I tried to reinstal postgreSQL by uninstaling it using the download manager, then redownload and instal it again in the hope that it works - it didnt - it would not let me.
I do have a windows firewall, the bog standard one with windows 10.
It might be that the firewall is blocking it after an update. The postgreSQL needs access to an internal port, not the internet and not the DAZ Studio program, for it to work so you will have to set the firewall to allow it. I don't have windows 10 so can't help with how to do it and I use Comodo as my firewall.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried turning off the firewall on private and public networks.
Still no go. Incidently I also tried to instal the studio 4.11 beta, but that fails too instal - i dont know if tha is a symptom of my problem or not
How are you installing it. (or should I say trying to install it)
Trying to instal it through instal manager, but it wont let me delete to be able to redownload it and reinstal.
I am wondering if I have to delete the Studio 4.10 program and reinstal after a reboot or something - basically Im out of ideas
You can also change the port it uses to connect... I had to do it once... bump it up by one.
How do I do that?
Update
Reinstalled a fresh Studio 4.10 after deleting it
Still the same problem - no CMS
Check that CMS is running in the Task Manager.
I cant find any reference to CMS in task manager, so I presume its not working
Ive reset database and reimported meta data - no joy there either
Studio log file (unsuprisingly) has "unable to connect to database" against all items
Just installed postgreSQL from a direct downloas, not via DLM.
Reset database, reinstalled metadat - stil NBJ
The fact that I cannot uninstall in the DLM, or install 4.11 beta through it leads me to think that the DLM might not be working properly. It did update itself this eveningg, coincidently with my troubles.'
This software is very flakey
have you updated to the new version of DIM?
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/282546/daz-install-manager-dim-1-2-0-6-now-available#latest
It should show several instances of postgres running, I'm showing seven at the moment in Task Manager.
Open DIM and click on the Installed tab at the top and then put postgreSQL into the search box above that. It will show whether postgreSQL is actually installed.
Yes DLM is the latest spec 1 2 0 6
Ive been looking around in the cms folder, and I see that the "contentcluster" folder is empty
So far as i can tell studio is pointing at it correctly, but cms is not working
It IS working on DLM, but wont delete or install
Im baffled
Have you, in the past, used the Run As Adminsitrator command for DS or DIM? If so it may be permissions on the ContentCluster folder thata re at least part of the issue.
I am having the same issue. I deleted all my content and wiped my drive ready to start again and now I can not for the life of me get a postgreSQL CMS connection.
Mac 10.11.6 daz 4.10.0.123

Scott
Its been a bit drastic, but I think I have got around the problem.
I was wondering why Studio and Install manager were both playing up, and I started thinking that it might not be them misbehaving, so much as a windows problem.
I found out that if you have an elevated file permissions status in windows then Install manager looked like it was working properly, but in reakity it wasnt, and of course the CMS problem in studio was still there, so I signed into windows as a different identity, and it all worked!
So - it seems the problem was a windows one, specifically to my origional log in. I did a system restore from well before the problems arise, and I could then access all again. Looking around the net I found that one of the latest windows updates was making some files read only, meaning that data could not be written to them, and I think that this was the main problem, combined with an elevated permissions status.
I hope this may put people back on track with this problem - thanks for the help peeps
I realize this is a super-old thread, but I had this problem and I didn't see the solution that ultimately fixed it for me anywhere. I'm guessing it is mostly extreme non-tech-savvy eejits like myself who will be mystified by such issues, so I wished to fling my answer here for another of my ilk to benefit from my frustration and generously applied profanity.
The path for the CMS connection seems to be tied to the letter assigned to the hard drive the assets are stored on. My computer, acting of its own initiative, suddenly after several months decided my HD was the H drive when I'd previously configured it as the F drive. I began getting the postgreSQL CMS connection error we all know and love because none of the paths lined up anymore. This is how I fixed it:
1. Press WindowsKey+R .
2. Type diskmgmt.msc in the box and press Enter .
3. In the bottom part of the Disk Management window, right-click the USB hard drive.
4. Click Change Drive Letter and Paths .
5. Click Change .
6. Select E in the menu and click OK .
Voila! No more error and everything in its right place.
