DIM Installed Items

Hi,

I'm sure this is an old topic for many of you.  I recently copied my DAZ content from C to an external drive, and have mapped everything properly in DIM and in DS.  Tested a download and it went to the right location.  Pulled up successfully as well.  The only thing I didn't anticipate was the Installed folder in the DIM main page.  I had 2369 items installed in C.  By remapping DIM install path from C to E, the 2369 items (in DIM) went to the Ready-to-Download folder.  I can't do a full download of the entire 2369 to the new location since I've customized my content directories to make it logical for me.  Can't leave it there as is either because newly purchased items would just disappear in the crowd.  What's the best way to move the 2369 from Ready-to-Download folder to the Installed folder in DIM (only), without touching the actual Content.

Thanks in advance

  • Move the zips from the old downloads folder to the new. You can, however, chaneg the sort order used in any tab of DIM - Order date would put the new stuff at the top (or bottom, depending on choice) of the list.

    Hi Richard,

Sorry, could you clarify?  Where are these zips located?  I've copied all the old items from C to E already.

  • The old location would be in the Public Documents folder, /Daz Install Manager/Downloads. The new would be wherever you told DIM to put its downloads.

    Got it.  Thanks

  • Now, if i may add a question which i assume fits right, i have 500 SSD on my C but i want to move on my other driver D. I also have over 1600 items and it wouldn't be a problem to delete and redownload it. Any suggestion on how to make it happen and also Daz being able to read it with no errors? Would be very thankful if someone can put some SS for someone that hasn't much experience with installation content on DAZ.

  • Just move the content across and use Edit>Preferences>Content tab>Content Directory Manager to update the paths. If you isntalled via DIM you will need to click the gear icon at top-right and in the Installation tab add the new path and set it as the Current location.

  • I have done that but now it won't read and its unavailable.

I think what's happening is that the install manifests have the original installation path, and that's what DIM scans in every time you start up or refresh. What I did to remedy that was to replace the installation path string in every install manifest with the one you are currently using. Use some text editor that can batch replace in files.

Where is the content now, and what paths do you have set in Content Directory Manager?

  • So i have 2 types of content, smart and all in 1 place.

My question is where do i fit each content?

I'm not sure what you mean - you screenshots show installed content, but not where it is installed, the downloaded zips for DIM, and your Content Directory Manager (on which you have the default Daz Connect adn DIM install paths, but you have lost the default save location - for you that would be C:/Users/Stefan/Documents/Daz 3D/Studio/My Library). I can't see what paths you have set for Poser content - the defaults would be the same as for DS native content.

  • So what i want is to move default content from C to E.

  • So let me explain it again. What i want is to move content from C to E so that i dont overload Windows Drive. Altought its with SSD, i want it to put in a place where i can upgrade the drive without needing to reinstall windows. So now i moved my content to E but it doesn't read it. So you might say i lost the path and now i want to make a new one so that i can use the content.

  • Right, in Content Directory Manager you need to highlight the C: paths, then click the Edit button on the left and select the equivalent path on the other drive (you want the folder that holds the Runtime and/or Data folder). Then in DIM you click the gear icon to open Preferences, go to the Instalaltion tab, and add the directory you want to use there too (and set it to Current at the bottom of the tab).
