How to Move Older Hat wearables that are "locked in?"

These days with new wearables a lot of hat and other wearable add ons have the functionality to be moved around up and down or rotated while still parented to the Gen 8 model. But with some of the older wearables (like the one I linked) the hat is parented to the head and clings around it, and no amount of messing with the xyz dials will let me move it. I'm wondering is there a workaround to move older hats like this around the body (like say I wanted the raise the hat a bit more for the sake of any hair options I added) while keeping it parented to the Gen 8 figure?

  • I think the hat will be fitted as well as parented. If you fit it to None (using the Fit to button in Parameters or the right-click Fit Itemname To command to open the dialogue) and then just parent it to the head you should be able to adjust it.

    if you repose a figure or animate it with such a hat though it will not stay in place as the pivot point will be at the hip.

    in DAZ studio the only way to fix this is to bring up the rigging by using the tool shaped like a bow tie and moving the little red and green arrows for the hip bone to the head, right click memorise rigging then go to edit convert to prop, you can then save it as a prop.

    A  centre hotpoint script is really needed but unfortunately one once actually existed and is no longer available so any new one could be accused of copying that even though most like me (who cannot write scripts anyway wink have never seen it) I am guessing thats why nobody has since made one as it is sorely needed.
