Why do some items simulate faster than other (dForce)?

Particularly older items, but in general... what makes an item sim faster?

I converted Night Guard for Genesis 2 Male... just the long tunic.  On the basic Genesis 2 Male shape, it sims FAST. When applied to a morphed Genesis 2 Male, the sim slows to a crawl (but it sill worked as you can see in the attached image).

Tried with Sherwood Hunter, just the hood... which ought to have been relatively simple and it was painfully slow.

Then there's the officially dForce Wise Wizard stuff which (despiste some kind of awful settings) with 4 layers of dynamics still sims faster than something simple like the dForce Knight Cloak.

Thoughts? How can I speed up some of these slower sims (oh and I know to hide things or make them not visible to the sim... so its not that).

  • Lower resolution will help (fewer collisions to check).

I seemed to see the exact opposite, after SubD, the Night Guard Tunic went faster.  But that may have been entirely subjective.

There was another thread where a few people confirmed that dforce ignores SubD on the simulated item. It does consider SubD on the collision items, though.
