How do I Edit an Aniblock for new figure translation

I am trying to edit an Aniblock in keyframe mode (using Animate 2) to change the figure's X and Z position. I select the desired frame in the aniblock, then move the figure to desired position. Exit keyframe mode and the new position is not applied. How can I make this work please? Thanks.

This worked when I adjusted the figure's Y rotation. Is translation different?

  • Did you click the plus sign on the top left of aniblocks with the character's line highlighted? (sorry I'm not by my computer with Daz so I don't know the proper names) That should add a blank line under your character. With that, right click and add a new block and line it up underneath and you should be able to adjust the character there in keyframe mode and it'll coincide with the other aniblock. I do this all the time. Hope this helps!

Thanks. I wish I knew what was going on. I tried as you suggested, and the very act of adding an empty block to the new sub-track causes my figure to Y-rotate 45 degrees! If I keyframe a figure translation in that sub-track (a few seconds in), then its position is altered from the first frame of the animation for some reason. I tried keyframing the original figure position earlier in the sequence to anchor it but that has no effect. I verified that there are no errant keyframes in the timeline tab that might be screwing me up.

Okay: if I choose a mix type of Add instead of Override Extended for the sub-track, then adding an empty block does not rotate my figure. I had tried Override when it wasn't able to anchor the figure's position with a keyframe.

I was able to get further along, and got another aniblock added and correctly adjusted, but on the next one I'm having problems again. It's very strange: I'll keyframe the figure's position at frame X, but then as soon as I step forward to frame Y or backward to frame W, I see that the figure is not where I keyframed it, but at a spot about halfway between where I set the key and where it was originally. Does this have something to do with the blending function of aniblocks?

  • After reviewing the animate2 user guide and checking out the Graph Editor I think I've discovered ONE thing I've been doing wrong. I've been adjusting the X and Z position of the base figure itself... but I should be using the HIP instead, no?

I'm still getting odd results, but I'm going to "clear the board" and try again, with that insight to guide me.

  • Yes! Okay I think I've got it now finally. Animation is syncing up nicely.
