re-importing daz connect content

I had Daz Studio on an old laptop, and am now trying to import the content back to my new pc.

Getting the DIM content was easy- point the content directory manager to it, refresh metadata and I was back up and running in no time.

I then realised that I had downloaded a ton of content using Daz connect. So I found the content in "my daz connect library" copied it to the new pc as I did with the dim content. went into the content directory manager, pointed it to the new content path, but it isn't seeing any of it. If I download a new file, it adds it to the new folder, so that's all correct, but it isn't seeing everything there.

How do I get it to recognise all the other content?

  • The Connect files need to be visible to the database. You could copy over the old database from your pevious system, if you first export user-data from the current system (assuming you have created any files or done any recategorisation) or you could reinstall the content (it should just get the file details from the sever, see you already have a copy, and add it to the database without having to download the whole file).

thanks for the help here. How do I go about reinstalling it? I found the following article, but was wondering if this would recognise the already downloaded content, or should I look somewhere else?

  • No, just find the item in a Products list - in the Content Library or in samrt Content - and double-click to install, or find it in the Install tab and double-click (or select several items and click the Install Selected button).

Thanks Richard. That works. Reinstalling each one reloads it into the database, but man It takes a long time. I guess that's a lesson learned. I will avoid daz connect in the future.

Brad, if you want to reinstall everything, you can select them all and click the button to Install Selected. But if you need to pick and choose what to install and what to ignore, it is a big pain to go through the whole list. It is one of the big downsides of Daz Connect. The same problem occurs if you ever have to reset the database due to corruption.

Yeah my ADSL line is only 2mb, and is throttled during the day, so I have to pick and choose what to install and when. I started off going through the folders and looking at each item to see what I had, but that was taking forever, so I then tried guessing and ended up installing a few large items. it took about half and hour and I was still on A, so I uninstalled what I had and will re-download everything again with DIM over the next few days. At least then everything will be together in one place and easy to move in the future. Hopefully this will be sorted out in a future release.
