Suddenly huge render times in D/S w/Iray

Hi there,

I have a bit of a desperate problem here.

I have a big scene with a lot of objects, so far, it rendered fine. Render times were surprisingly awesome.

Then I installed D/S 4.11 and suddenly memory usage and render times are through the roof, I sometimes can barely turn a camera angle anymore in texture shaded view and so on.

Deinstalled 4.11, twiddled a little. Working with the scene works ok again, but any little test render still takes 15 minutes.

I did a test with and without a lot of shrubbery and did some screen shots. Maybe someone here can help me find what the problem is. I already updated my GPU driver.

The render passes actually go pretty fast, it's the setup time til the render starts that takes forever and all my memory.

Attached are screenshots of the setup before it starts rendering. First with the shrubbery visible, then without.

System settings as follows:

Intel Core i5-7400 3 GHz

16GB RAM

NVidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB

Note that 4.11 is still in beta — it's a test release, not the final full release, and it isn't guaranteed that most (hopefully) bugs are found and dealt with.

Also note, especially if this is the first time you've installed a beta, that the two program versions are installed into different locations, but the full release settings and any extra plugins you might have bought will not be copied to the beta program location. You will have to manually copy the settings files and reinstall the plugins (which will install the files to both the full release and beta program locations).

In this case, it looks like you have some Viewport and/or render settings changed from the default in the full release, but of course these changes don't exist in the beta settings.
