Didimo heads to Daz figures

Hello, I need help putting a Didimo head on a Daz g3m figure.

Didimo makes the most accurate heads from a photo that I have seen. No marking points on the photo necessary.  However, I know of no way to connect the mesh with a Daz G3M figure. FaceGen creates a slider within Daz to apply the faces it creates. However, I have not found FaceGen to be accurate.

Does anyone know how I could attach the Didimo mesh to the Daz figure and rigging?

Thanks,

Nathan

I assume that turning the Didimo head into a geograft would work. I think there are tutorials on how to connect geografts to figures. This would still mean that there were no facial morphs, though. Please let us know if you are successful.

  • two pieces of information needed

firstly does the Didimo head have the same vertex count regardless of the morphs/shaping.

secondly can you shape the base head to somehow snugly fit the G3M head?

if so you can then fit it as a conforming figure and then inject the shaping morphs from Didimo into it and use autofollow to drive the DAZ expressions, you may also be able to project the shape from it onto the DAZ mesh using the smoothing modifier if not too extreme.

another thing to bear in mind is with DAZ figures you are limited by the topology

only Premier Artists have access to HD morphs

so no third party mesh with more polygons is going to look as good projected onto a DAZ mesh, this is the issue with facegen for example.

also the geograft option which might work using my conforming suggestion to transfer expression morphs over in the transfer utility would also need the mesh UV mapped to load the DAZ textures or transfer Didimo ones over to the DAZ mesh etc.

All of this is quite a lot of work

    not impossible though

I have actually done in myself using the iClone Character creator figures to an extent in that I have made a pair of matching clone shapes and can transfer morphs between them and use Ultimate unwrap 3D repaint to transfer textures.

But it was a lot of work involving moving individual vertices much smoothing modifier collisions and exporting reimporting, posing one rigged figure to line up with another as well as shrinkwrapping in Blender, still not perfect.

    and yet more!

if you have Maya you can project the DAZ UV to the Didimo mesh and vis versa

(I used the trial version to do this on some limited matching shaped meshes before it ran out)

no doubt Autodesk softwares can do a lot of the stuff suggested easier than Blender

bearing in mind my skills in Blender also somewhat limited cheeky

    there is this
    https://www.daz3d.com/simtenero-shape-reprojector

but I don't own it and never seen anything done with a DAZ figure and another mesh using it either by those who do so cannot give a recomendation.

Thank you for responding. I am researching the terminology in your response
