How to make textures for clothing

Search was useless...got all kinds of crazy results not one related to the question.

So...I need Jamacian / Rasta clothing for a project.  I cannot seem to find any such items male or female.  So thought I might have to alter some existing textures for clothing I have to make them "Rasta" style and colors.

Any thoughts on how one would do this and be sure everything lines up?

Alternativly any links to Jamaican or Rasta clothing sets or textures already in production would be great.

I tend to load the existing diffuse texture for the clothing into my 2D graphics program and use it as a template for making a new one. Getting things to line up can take some trial and error though.

I recommend you to use a script called mcjTemplate to create the "Texture Template" image, if there the clothes don't come with some already.

These "Texture Template" 2D mesh images represents the UV layout, thats how the 3D mesh is layed out in 2D space. You can load this template as a transparant layer over the actual texture you want to paint on in an imgae editor to have the guidelines for getting things lined up.
