Removing geometry from models

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone knows how to removr portions of geometry from packaged models. For example I would like to remove the side walls and footer lights from The asian Stage model completely. I realize that I can just turn off visability, but I just want to save the the base stage as a prop without walls or curtains. Thanks!

If it's actually one single mesh you should be able to do that with the Geometry Editor in DS.

How do you actually remove geometry with the the geometry editor?

Select it, turn visibility off, delete hidden polygons.

    barbult,

Where exactly is the delete hidden polygons option found? When I go the tools drop down and select geometry editor I only get a red circle selector in my scene, and I right click I just get more selection options. I don't see any action options after that. Is there a geometry editor console somewhere in DS?

I deleted hidden polygons and saved the Stage  as a prop, but when loaded the created prop, the names of the geometry I deleted still shows up in the scene hierarchy window with a liitle bone symbol next to it.  Is there a way to remove the deleted items from the scene hierarchy also?

  • Bones can be removed with the Joint Editor tool - select, then right-click in the Viewport and I think it's in the Edit sub-menu. However, be alert for possible consequences - and note that a bone without geometry isn't going to affect rendering since the rigging information isn't sent to the renderer.

Thanks Richard, I fumbled into the joint editor and deleted som bones. I found out I can't just start deleting without knowin what the bones do. I also found out I can't scale the leftover geometry after all the deleting as I thought I would be able to. Maybe if I save the final geometry as an object and inport in then I will be able to scale in all directions. Thank you for the feedback!
