SUBDIVISIONS RESET - SOLVED -

Hello Richard! I'm asking you a question about a strange artefact. Anytime I import in Daz Studio 4.10 an OBJ file, not matter if comes from Maya, C4D, Pegasus Modeler, then apply a smooth modifier, after rendered the object or I stop the rendering, the subdivisions gone and the object back to base (the popup menu resolution remain on Base). It's a usual Daz bug, or something happened to the program?

Thank you!

    Hello Richard!

You can always send a private message if you want to chat with only one person. ;)

  • A Smoothing Modifier is not SubD, if you want to apply that it's Edit>Figure (or Object)>Geometry>Convert to SubD. A Smoothing Modifier uses the existing vertices.

3WC, I ask to Richard cause until now I seen that him is the only one to answer my questions! I read in the notes "2 billion read", but Richard only answer back! This is the reason. Richard gave me an hand to solve an important issue of Daz, the outfit legs JCM. So they works amazingly!!!! (read in the previous discussion) ;)

Now lets talk about the real important thing:

Richard SOLVED! You are right as usual, but the solution I had under my nose. You know I'm completing my products for sale, so now Jenny is completed, outfits and boots too.

So, I notice that issue, and, yesterda night I tried with my Mac laptop to repdroduce the same workflow and I discovered that the issue (strange but true) is not Daz at this time, cause my DS on the laptop do the same thing. You know what? I know the function of SubD an Smooth Modifier, but for haste to complete my product I forgot the ... Tadaa, Render Subdiv Level (minimum). It is setted to 1, not enough! I need to set 2, in rendering as well it keep the subd in the viewport too! Sorry i made a so stupid question, but at the same time thanks as always for you fast answer!

Have a great day my frined! :D

  • Glad to help.

It is better to post in the forum, rather than use a PM - not only does it give the hope that someone else will answer sooner/better but it means others can benefit from the discussion (search permitting).

  • Thank you Richard! laugh

:) Yes Richard is very helpful, and I was sort of kidding. But everytime I look at your threads I feel like I am intruding on a personal conversation. :D
