Casual Spikes Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 by RedzStudio [ QUESTION ]

I'm hoping someone can help with this problem I have had when buting this product this morning.
Product in question: https://www.daz3d.com/casual-spikes-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8
First off, the product took an AGE to download, and now that it has, the hairbase (skin texture) loads fine, but the actual hairs don't. They show as being present in the scene tab, and all of the preset shapes and materials are present, but the actual hairs are definitely not to be found anywhere. Not in viewport, and not in an actual render.
With the DL taking so long, I thought it may be an issue with a corrupted transfer or similar, so I completely uninstalled via DIM, and deleted the package. I have re-downloaded (still took a while but nowhere near as long!) and I am having the exact same issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hi John. I’m not sure what’s going on. I completely removed the hair from my system and reinstalled via DIM, and both the male and female versions are loading fine. If you select smooth shaded are they visible?
This is actually two hairs, one for the men and another for the ladies. Coupled with the fact that fiber based hairs are always large files, that’s why it’s such a slow download. It does generally render fast though, at least for me.
Hopefully somebody else with the hair can confirm whether or not there’s a problem.
Hi Redz, thanks for the reply!
This morning I have completely removed the packages from my system, and will re-install.
Just an update for you, as I had only attempted to use the G8M version. The G8F version did nothing apart from show a 'Reading Package Files' window for so long I had to shut down DAZ. The G3 versions are still untested.
It's worth saying also that the slow download was not just due to it being a large file - I just re-downloaded it in about 6 seconds! Yesterday DAZ seemed to be running really slow, buggy and just not right at all. So thats why I figured it may have been a 'corrupted or damaged' download.
** UPDATE **
Ok, so after completely removing the packages from my system and re-installing, I am no further forward. I am having exactly the same issues. Also, to answer your question, the hairs do not show in smooth shaded. It is just a grey figure with a black hairbase.
The G8F hair *will* now load, after about 2-3 mins of the 'Reading Package Files' but all I see is a grey box with rounded corners over her face?
Here are some screenshots to better show what I am seeing:
Genesis 8 Male with hair fitted - Texture shaded them Smooth shaded:
Genesis 8 Female with hair fitted - Texture shaded them Smooth shaded:
And just so show exactly what is shown in the scene tab throughout all of this....
I'm really puzzled at this point! I do have other products from Redz and have never had any problems of this kind when installing new items.
Hope this helps to resolve this issue!
John

I bought the hair yesterday, though I only installed through Smart content. It works well for me, both male and female version (haven't tried the g3 versions but assume they will work too).
You only installed through DIM? Or have you tried to install through smart content and see if that works? (If you can/want to ofc, I know not everyone want to use that)
I admit I am rather puzzled too when seeing your trouble, never seen that before.. though that do remind me, do you have the newest released version of Studio? And of DIM?
Hi Carola,
I have tried both ways - through DIM and manual download and installation. I get this same effect no matter what I try...
Also, I am running what I believe to be the latest (?) version of DAZ Studio: 4.10.0.123 Pro Edition (64bit) - DIM version is 1.2.0.6 (64bit)
As I can’t reproduce the issue, I’m at a loss to explain it. Worth submitting a ticket to the help desk.
Have you tried install it via the smart content pane? The daz connect thingie I mean. I do think that submitting a ticket, as Redz said, is the best way. But I admit I am interesting to find out what is causing the trouble. I do hope that there is a solution and you will be able to use the hair soon
Ok, I uninstalled again, and this time I installed it from within DAZ Studio. I also updated the Metadata before re-installing, and it said that 2 files had failed.
However, I can now confirm that the hair is working fine! I am not sure what the heck was going on here, but it is now loading and rendering fine. Thanks to you both for your help - and for the tip about installing it this way!
I'm glad it worked this way atleast :)
