RSSY 3Delight to Iray throws an error on startup

Starting today, after what appears to have been an update of this fantastic product, I'm getting an error on opening the utility:  "An error occurred while reading etc."

Here is the relevant passage from the log file:

2018-11-29 13:26:56.495 Loading script: /Volumes/DazLibrary/Content/data/cloud/1_53295/scripts/riversoft art/3dl to iray/rssy 3delight to iray.dse
2018-11-29 13:26:56.502 WARNING: Script Error: Line 1
2018-11-29 13:26:56.502 WARNING: SyntaxError: Parse error
2018-11-29 13:26:56.502 WARNING: Stack Trace:
    <anonymous>()@/Volumes/DazLibrary/Content/data/cloud/1_55317/data/riversoft art/common/rsconstants.dsa:1
2018-11-29 13:26:56.502 Error in script execution: /Volumes/DazLibrary/Content/data/cloud/1_53295/scripts/riversoft art/3dl to iray/rssy 3delight to iray.dse

My understanding of that is that the error is in the app.  If not, does anyone have any ideas what I should do to get this to work (I've tried uninstalling/re-installing to no avail)?

Or do we need to wait for an update from the developer?

Thanks.

  • A parse error on line 1 sounds more like a failure to read the script at all, try unisntall and reinstalling in case it's a bad local copy.

Thanks Richard -- as mentioned above, that was the first thing I did, as well as restarting both Daz and the computer. I've since tried uninstalling/re-installing a number of times, but that doesn't help.

I also find that all the other RSSY converter products I have throw the same error.  And yet other utility scripts work just fine. At the same time, I've checked two other computers with the same RSSY products and they all work there.  So it's my main computer (a Mac) that's corrupted somehow.

Not sure what to do at this point.  Re-install Daz?  Since everything else is working, that doesn't seem to be a solution.  Re-install the OS?  Frustrating....

I'm thinking it may have something to do with the script not finding the file rsconstants.dsa.  Can you explain the  <anonymous>()@ ? Looks odd to me....but I'm no code wizard.

I think I read somewhere that some of the RSSY converters (certainly clothes) need installing via DIM (or manually) not Connect - have you tried that?

ETA: I assume you would need to uninstall the RSSY converter product first, before downloading and reinstalling with DIM/manually.

  • What version of DS is this? I meant to ask, though if the script ws saved from a newer version I think it would say that rather than just failing to parse.

I doubt this is a Connect/DIM issue - I think the issue there was the default save path (that's the usual issue).

  • Thank you Melanie -- following your suggestion I reinstalled through DIM.  Unfortunately it didn't work, though I did get a new error message (yay?): Could not open file : /Scripts/RiverSoft Art/3DL to Iray/RSSY 3Delight to Iray.dse That lasted until I reinstalled trhough Connect, at which point it reverted back to the prior parsing error.

Richard, I'm using 4.10.0.123 64 bit for Mac.  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling on a different computer (also a Mac) what appears to have been a recent update.  The script works on that computer just fine.  Very strange!

Thanks again for helping me troubleshoot this.

  • 4.10.0.123 is the current version, so that shouldn't be the issue - especially as it works on the other machine.
