How to convert AoA lighting to Iray?

How to convert AoA lighting to Iray?

I have a number of Age of Armor lighting rigs from older Daz environments... I would like to put them to use, rather than just uninstall another old item that was very useful until IRay took over. But I have no idea how to go about this conversion.  I would need to do it once, and save the result as a NEW personal product so the settings are ready to go.

Anyone tried this? Can it be done? If so ... How?

Thanks, LB

Age of Armor wrote his own 3Delight (RSL) shaders for those lights. They will not translate into Iray. It isn't just a matter of the settings, he modified how the light was cast and calculated within the 3Delight rendering engine. I'm afraid unless you render 3DL, there isn't a way to salvage them. It's a shame, because I really liked what he had done. But Iray treats light completely differently from biased engines like 3Delight and so there's no real comparisson.

@JonnyRay; Thanks for the reply, I was certain I had seen something about some one actually doing this, but from what you are saying, I think that person must have been talking about simulating AoA's work in IRay rather than a true conversion.

Another great product just went extinct for IRay users.

Yeah, back in the day AoA and I used to talk quite a bit about writing Renderman shaders; so I know some of what he was doing. Unfortunately since Iray wants to do it's best to simulate real light, it doesn't have some of the control over light shaders that Renderman.
