Is it possible to convert V4 textures to V6?

Hello,
First time poster, I am a noob so I apologize if this is a common question.
I started off with V4 and have a fairly large library of character runtimes for her, but now I recently got first V5 and not V6. I think the advancements in both characters are astounding after using V4 a while its amazing how much easier they are to use and how good they look out of the box. I want to use V6 and V5 now for my renders.
I have been looking at the sites and scouring any programs and found these:
http://www.daz3d.com/textures-skin-maps/v4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-female-s
http://www.daz3d.com/textures-skin-maps/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
And I am wondering if this will allow me to use V4 skins on V6 or any Genesis 2 female for that matter I suppose. Or is there another way to do it that I'm missing?
Thank you.

What you need to use V4 textures on genesis 2 female base and other characters such as V6 is
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
and
http://www.daz3d.com/v4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-female-s
This will allow you to use any of your V4 textures on Genesis 2. Same goes for Genesis 2 male/M6 you need the M4 shape for Genesis 2 and then the skins auto converter for genesis 2 males.
You can use V4 textures or M4 textures or K4 textures on the Genesis Base (male and female shapes including M5 and V5) without anything anything special. All you have to do is select Genesis and then in the surface tab scroll down till you find UV map or something to that effect and select the Generation 4 character you will be using the textures from and it automatically does it for you.
Thank you for the quick reply. I will do as you recommend.
It was told that if you have http://www.daz3d.com/textures-skin-maps/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female then you do not need http://www.daz3d.com/v4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-female-s as victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female brings V4 UV to G2F. Thus, you could use any exsting V4 textures with G2F without converting. Same goes to G2M. I did not buy V4 skins autoconverter but got V4 for G2F and now I have V4 UV on my G2F in the runtime. Just checked.
To convert V4 textures for use on Genesis 2 Female or V6, you have to have this:
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
This gives you the V4 UVs for G2F which are required to fit the V4 skins to G2F.
I have converted a couple of V4 skins using only this, but it is a multiple step process. I do not have the second product:
http://www.daz3d.com/textures-skin-maps/v4-skins-auto-converter-for-genesis-2-female-s
I am given to understand this makes the conversion a one step process that should be simpler for a noob
Yes, you're able to use V4 skins with just the V4 for Genesis 2, but because of the new surface groups on the new figure, Daz doesn't know what to do with the shaders by default. In order to get them to work, you need to first apply them to Genesis then save it out as a new materials preset, then apply that newly saved preset to Genesis 2.
The auto converter, as the name implies, does all of this manual work for you and converts them to the DUF format so that you're more easily able to apply them to Genesis 2 in future without the extra work.

Actually if you have V4 (the actual Gen4 model that is) then you can load up the textures you want on her and save THAT as a materials preset - this preserves an eye surface that Genesis 1 lacks, so the G2F version will look slightly better (more like the original) with the DUF saved from original V4. This is how I've converted all my V4 textures. Now doing the same thing with M4 textures for G2M - it takes a while if you have a lot!

Yup. That's how I've done it. Didn't have to buy converter and it's so simple :)
Once you have converted a texture to Gen2 and saved it as a duf file can you not still use the materials for v4 to change makeup mats and eye color? I converted a v4 material today and then tried several of the v4 mat files to change the makeup on the saved texture I had applied to Gen2 but it would not change. I was sure prior when I had converted a texture I could still use the v4 files to change.
Did you convert the makeup/eye mats to ..duf?
No only the base makeup, do you have to apply each makeup, eye texture to the character and save each one separately? So you have several mat files for the same character?
Unfortunately, yes, only .duf supports the multiple material sets feature. The other option is the script to convert them on-the-fly.
MelanieL and StrixOwl...how do you save your presets? I just tried to do that and they are not loading onto G2 at all. I loaded V4, applied the mats, made sure she was highlighted in scene tab and under surfaces and saved as material preset. Removed V4 and loaded G2 and then applied the V4 to Genesis2 and then tried to load the newly created mat file and nothing, the mat would not load onto G2. Oh and I am using 4.5.1.36 but that shouldn't matter, DUF is in both mine and the newer versions and shouldn't be an issue.
You apply the V4 Texture to Genesis and then SAVE as you have done. Set Genesis to V4 UV of course.
I don't think 4.5 supports surface sets.
Jaderail, it's G2 I am trying to get the textures on.
Mike, there has to be a way to get these textures on G2 without spending more money and/or going through a bazillion steps. I paid for the V4 to Genesis so these textures would work and that is what I expected them to do, only they don't, unless I buy yet another product or spend time doing it manually. And now you say none of this will work because I don't have the latest version of Daz? I'm getting a headache.
V4 to Genesis or Genesis2?

from the storepage
"note: Due to a limitation in how DAZ Studio handles presets, only material presets which are in DUF format can be directly applied. Any existing material presets must be re-saved in DUF format from the original Victoria 4."
Sorry, I think Fixmypcmike is right that you need to upgrade to DS4.6 - I did it (after a lot of dawdling) for the very reason of being able to use textures on G2F other than the standard Bree one she comes with, which is all I ever managed t load in DS4.5
Edit: correct attribution of who said what!
You should be able to apply the needed shader to G2F (if it isn't the DAZ Default Shader) then copy and paste the settings from V4 to G2f, then set the UV Set to Victoria 4.
I would love to use the latest version of Daz and not have all these problems, but my machine can't handle it and the program won't even install. 4.5 just works and I still have issues with renders, mostly can only do shadow map and almost never ray tracing. It's a graphics card and ram issue and can only solve it by getting a new computer, something I can't afford at this time, so I make do.
I correct/make clear my earlier statement. I have the V4 to Genesis2Female. I don't need any of these things for Gen1 cause all the textures load no problem from V4 to Gen1, it's only Gen2 I am having problems with. I have not yet bought any of the Gen2Male items due to not being able to clear up any issues with the Female.
Jaderail....These clones you mention, is this something I have to make and if so is it rather involved, cause I really can't handle anymore complicated things right now. Also can't afford to buy the one's in the store, utterly ridiculous price. I keep seeing posts about clones, but with my eyes, tend to avoid lengthy posts unless it's something I really need to see.
Richard what do you mean copy and paste the settings, I'm a little lost as to how to do what you are talking about. I know how to set the uv to V4 cause of the V4 to Genesis2Female, if that is what you are talking about.
G2F's material zones are named differently than V4 and Genesis1. DS 4.6 has a feature that allows the alternate material zones to be recognized if you load a .duf preset. In DS4.5 you would need to manually select each material zone and apply the settings.
I would hang fire on the auto converters for a little while if you don't already have them. On G2, the ears are a separate surface item and they weren't on previous figures, the converter had problems with the ears, but, I believe this has been worked on and there is an update due.
CHEERS!
I've used the V4 to G2F auto-converter very successfully but how do I convert V4/M4 files that are already in .DUF format? Some of the figures I own have V4/M4 skins in .DUF format but I can't figure out how to convert them to G2F/M (if this is even possible?)
If they're already in .duf format they shouldn't need converting, they should work as-is.
Ok thanks! That seems to be the case. .DUF skins work with all generations & shapes?
Not sure on that one, but, for G2 you do need to have the UV for the older figure for it to work, most of these can be bought in the Daz Store.
If you have the appropriate UVset, which you do, .duf files don't need to be converted -- G2F has alternate "Surface Sets" which allow it to use .duf files that have alternate surface names. This only works for .duf, which is why other formats need to be converted to .duf.
