Hi all,

New to all of this. Just wondering FlowScape 1.3 now has OBJ  import, anyone already done that? And if so what way to export from Daz? What are the catches?

I stumbled on flowscape the other day, looks pretty cool will have to check it out. Daz Studio has the .OBJ export so you should be able to get an object imported into Flowscape easily, not sure how textures would import, but it shouldn't be any different from any other app or game.

Not sure how the Flowscape community is, but since this is a game, keep in mind that you can only import for personal use and none of what you export out of Dax Studio can be shared.

good luck and let know how it goes/show your results in case any other users are interested in trying it out.

Have you had any luck getting the textures to load?

Have been keeping an eye on it for much of this year. Cannot believe how fast it's developing. Must admit I'm hoping for OBJ output. I know they say 'later' but given the pace of development, their 'later' could easily be this year.

    Regards,

    Richard.

I want to make clear for others who read this in their quest to use Daz models imported into FlowScape that the above information needs clarifying--

The actual files you export from Daz cannot be shared with others, this is true, but the way the above post is written might lead to confusion. All standard 2D art that you create with Daz files and content are covered under the standard EULA for Daz and whatever licensing covers the software or app you import them into for rendering. The developer of FlowScape has stated and you can find it pinned in the Discord as proof, that users may use the art they create with FlowScape for whatever purpose they like, including commercial. So, while the content exported from Daz cannot be shared, unless done so in accordance with a game developer license, it is not entirely true that exporting content from Daz Studio must be for personal use only. Although it is true that FlowScape is considered a game, since you are not able to distribute anything but artistic creations that do not share the original content files, I do not think the information posted above is correct. I'm happy to be corrected by any moderators who disagree. I'm sorry to bump this lesser thread on FlowScape and Daz, but I felt it important enough to risk.

Thanks for your insight and sorry if it confused you, but the thing you are missing in your statement and based off my experience in gaming communities, is users tend to share assets (models/mesh/textures) they use for the particular game or game engine they are using. I wasn't referring to 2D content since I take it as a given that any 2D work that is produced with Daz assets on any medium outside of DAZ Studio is covered by the basic EULA which is why I didn't mention that. A typical case scenario with flowscape would be a user posting either a video or 2D artwork made using daz assets (models/mesh/textures) in it and then other users asking them to share the assets they used and them being posted, hence my statement above. I see this in every game communitity I am a part of.

As for the use or need of an interactive license, flowscape is an existing game and as such any content from DAZ for use in it other than renders or animations would be considered a mod and mods are not covered or supported with the interactive license.

@FSMCDesigns--I'm not missing it, nor did you confuse me, as I think my answer above makes clear, thank you. I appreciate your answer, however, which greatly clarifies your meaning for others. I know full well people break the rules in gaming communities all the time. I only pointed out that what you said greatly simplified the matter as being restricted to "for personal use only," and, by your own admission, you assumed certain things that you did not mention. Not all readers who Google and find their way to this thread will understand those things you left out. Please don't make this about my understanding, which I do not think was lacking in the slightest. That's rather personal, and needlessly so.

    best, Wanderer wink

I think his last forum post on the Flowscape forum was 193+ days ago.
