Question about Genesis 2 Cross-Figure Resource Kit

Does It means I can do a clothe which fit in G2F and G2M without tedious autofit window? Then I can convert all my G2 clothes genere specific in a dual use clothes? It works only for current and "future" G2 meshes or it also works for G1-to-G2 clothes and G2-to-G1 clothes or any DS rigged X_figure-to-Y_figure?
I know product indicate Genesis 2, but stament "The Genesis 2 Cross-Figure Resource Kit provides the tools and information that enable developers to create conforming content that allows being 'Fit to' more than a single supporting figure possible in DAZ Studio" cause me curiosity.
Comments
It is only for Genesis 2 as far as I can tell, I don't have this item.
Only Genesis 2 is mentioned, and if it did anything else, I'm sure the blurb would say. It does say 'adding Cross-Figure support to Genesis 2 supporting conformers ', so I would say it is Gen2 F/M only, but hang around till someone who has this replies.

So, a better cuestions can be:
(1) No more tedious selection of "Figure" and cloth "type". If I have a G2F skirt I can modify it to this fit with one click on G2M?
(2) There will be more genesis 2 figures like G2K, probably need another product for this improvement?
(3) This improvement can be applied to others figures in DS but the current product, doesn't do it. A new product is neened?
The way it reads to me is that you can make any conforming clothing made for genesis 2 have the fit to option for both GF2 and GM2 instead of using autofit and nothing more. Seems like a lot of work and expense when the autofit option is available, but then again, I don''t find autofit tedious in the least..
Ok I bought the package. It's different from autofit as:
1) Allows you to add the fit of a shape (male or female along with rigging changes) to a conforming object (clothing, hair, geografts).
2) Allows you add figure morph to a conforming object instead of having it autogenerate... such as adding a teen fit to a clothing object that the autogenerated morph had issues with.
3) Save those fits out as support assets to the conformer.
This way content developers can use this tool to build male and female fits into their clothing without going through autofit. You may still need to clean up the fit.
Customers can use the tool to add fits in to clothing they already have.
You need DAZ Studio 4.6.1.33 at the minimum to use the script.
Also keep in mind this is not a one-click solution, autofit is going to be the faster option for you if that's what you want. I'm guessing this is to give your conforming items better results than autofit and autogeneration.
Autofit is a ultra cool tool, but select figure in a list then select cloth type in another list is a little torture when I do kit bashing. If cloth go to G2F from Aiko3 using G1 it is double torture.
Is this product really designed for an end user at all, or is it more geared to content developers?
In general most end users wouldn't need this. It is for content creators. It essentially allows them to create one piece of clothing that will fit to both the Genesis 2 Male and Female figures without that clothing item having to be converted via autofit.
An end user could potentially use this product to convert their existing Genesis 2 Male or Female clothing. However, if Autofit already fills your needs then then you probably don't need the Cross-Figure Resource Kit.

Well, speaking as a content creator, I'm very excited to have it and can't wait to use it.
Thanks Male-M3dia for all this information, it was very useful.

As an aspiring content creator...sure looks like it will make life easier.
I'm a bit lost on how it works. Clothes are usually built around some specific mesh - be it G2F or G2M (and this is proclaimed to be a benefit of gender-split decision). So in this case, if it is just one outfit mesh that fits both figures, around what figure the clothes would be built? Some unisex shape?
And wasn't the ability to add custom fits (to replace and suppress autofit-generated morphs) always here? From what I know you only need to make a custom fit morph and name it with an inner name of the morph in the original figure. Isn't for this script you still need to make a custom fit morph anyway and name it with the morph inner name in the original figure?

Scratch #2 from that list, that's not in there. Confused by something in the docs.
Out of curiosity, does this script operates on some different procedures/methods/algorithms than autofit and/or transfer utility?
Content designed to go through this utility should be first made for either G2M or G2F and then sent through this process to get the other. So it has a primary figure and a compatible figure.
This utility uses the standard morph generation as the shaping mechanism and a script to correctly handle rig movement. It is designed primarily for content creators to support both sexes with one item rather than making one for each. It is best used in cases where it is unnecessary to adjust the weight maps in order to correctly follow the other figure. This means its good for things like shoes, gloves, many geo-grafts, tails, horns, hats, helmets, some hairstyles, bracelets, etc. It is not very good for things like full body dresses, shirts or pants as the torso area is weight mapped differently on the two figures to account for Gender specific characteristics. It can give a good starting point, but probably not the final desired product in cases like the mentioned torso covering items. Because of its less destructive mechanisms, it also has the benefit of not destroying control bones like auto-fit does.

Thank you, it is a nice, clear explanation. The last part, about non-disruption of control bones, made me especially curious. Do you know if such handle of control bones can/will be implemented into autofit or/and transfer utility?
I just tried it out with Order of the Wolf for G2M. I noticed the shoulder pieces follow the figure normally rather than just stretching them when bent like autofit does. It also worked for the Nyx outfit when going from g2f to g2m. The bone structures of the 2 clothes were still intact.

Transfer Utility has a mechanism to merge skeletons instead of replace. This will keep the bones but the weight maps will be changed/lost. It has a work around to ignore weights on invisible vertices as well. A future beta (not the current one) will also respect locking which can be used to preserve the weight maps. Auto-fit doesn't currently have a mechanism for this and I am not sure if/when it will.
Another important thing to know is Transfer Utility/Auto-fit basically makes a new figure to do their work. This utility just adds functionality to the existing figure.
Greetings,
While you're waiting for an official DAZ answer, you should check out Sickleyield's tutorial on keeping the bones around...You've probably seen it, but in case you hadn't.

Thanks for the clear outline. Is it possible to add other triax figures for example Gen1 or Dawn or will it only work with g2 figures?
That reminds me, I forgot to mention a category of items: over the torso but not close to the skin.
I've found it works well on the legs/tail/ears of the Creature Creator product as well, but I think I mentioned geo-grafts already.
Dawn won't work because her hierarchy is not the same as the Genesis 1 or 2 setup (she has different bones inserted along the trunk for instance).
One could theoretically make a Gen1 version but as its weight maps are more different the type of items it worked on would diminish significantly and it would not work on Geo-Grafts at all.
The cases you mention are probably still best served by Auto-fit/Transfer Utility.
I'm using this to update my latest big project with Fuseling to go with G2F as well as G2M, and I could kiss you guys that you made this. Definitely a better solution than the autofit helpers I ended up doing for the Security set!

Thank you for the answer...I can get good results with the autofit/transfer utility so I will stick with that for the moment.
Sounds cool, if you can, and don't mind, let us know your opinions going forward.

It's going to work better F-to-M than vice versa because of the breast issues, and it's not going to be tolerant of atypical geometries (we've got a cloak piece that it just destroys, fit-wise, but that's an extreme case in every way).
This is okay, though, because the in my testing the XID_Genesis2Female or XID_Genesi2Male morph that it creates can be overwritten through Morph Loader Pro like any other morph. Now that we have the script and the tech, it's very possible for a content creator to do their own G2F morph piggybacking on it, avoiding the Autofit dialogue altogether and still getting a superior fit.
Automatic bridging can even be built-in since the base G2F fit is a morph like any other morph (in items where that's relevant). Now that's something you couldn't do with unisex Genesis clothes.
Did you ever need to do it with Genesis?

Perhaps Sickleyield means from the stand point that you had to model from the androgynous shape, so you had to do extra work to properly get it to work with shapes with breasts without excessive shrinkwrapping.

Bingo.
Okay, now, does the customer have to have this in order for products made with it to work? Because it works on my machine, but Fuseling (who doesn't have it) is getting the autofit prompt when conforming an item to characters. I need to know so I can put it as a requirement on the product page if necessary.
If end-users have to own this for content creators to make use of it, that seems to severely limit the usefulness of this product. After all, it's really a tool to make content creator's lives easier. Hopefully they'll get that sorted if it's the case.
One thought comes to mind: there is a minimum version of Studio required for this. Does Fuseling have that installed? It wouldn't surprise me that older versions of Studio wouldn't know about whatever the new hooks are for this, and popped the autofit dialog as that's what it would have done in the past.
I bought this and check out my first result. I'm really impressed...
Ianthe hair using fit to vs with the cross figure morph added.
