Genx2 and Daz 4.14

Does anyone know if Genx2 still works in daz 4.14

Personally I don't bother w/ GenX2 anymore. There are other chacter converter scripts by Riversoft Arts and Zev0 that require much less effort and fewer manual steps, with better results.

May not be the answer you want.

I didn't realize the Riversoft Arts had scripts that could convert those really old Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 5 (Genesis 1) scripts to Genesis 8.

  • Yes, it does still work with 4.14; no issues I've encountered so far.

It wasn't that PA, it was Dimension3D, who unfortunately is no longer with us. GenX2 could bring the shapes for Millennium Generation 3 and 4 up to Genesis 1, 2, and 3 (and between Genesis versions) with all the add-ons.

They don't, their character converters start from G2 only (they might create more later). So yes, GenX2 is still useful.

I think nonesuch was being sarcastic at fastbike's less-than-helpful comment.

OK, that's what I thought. I bought all the GenX2 just for the possibility of moving old Gen 3, Gen 4, and Gen 5 morph shapes to Genesis 3 and then to Genesis 8 with Zev0's product. Haven't bought RiverSoftArt's yet to try it.

If i could convert all of my v3/v4 and m3/m4 textures to g8 I probably wouldn't be so manic.

You can, but not with this, it just does shapes. To get your textures up to G8, you would need an assortment of Legacy UV products. See Cayman Studios and RedzStudio stores.

Only Genx2 deals with characters before Genesis 2. And with morphs/textures conversions there is no guarantee of what will work the best on every scenario. I've been doing some Generation 4 conversions recently and sometimes a tool does a better job and the next day it's the other.

I find that genX2 and Zev0's converter work very well together.

Question for anyone converting V4 characters - I've asked this before but I'm still confused. How do you fix the V4 base pose so the feet are flat when converting characters with GenX2? I've tried everything and I still end up with the V4 tippy toes pose which screws up G3/G8 poses.

    https://www.sharecg.com/v/60135/browse/21/DAZ-Studio/Genesis-V4-pose-adjust-script

    That's for Genesis 1

    https://www.sharecg.com/v/89846/browse/8/Script/Daz3d-Pose-Converter-Standalone

    That converts between the G1 G2 G3 G8

Only problem is because they are geografts you can't save the material presets to reapply, you have to reapply the geografts each time.  It would be nice to have a material converter that will convert them and then save them for future use,

    Save as Hierarchical Material Preset!

@Hylas  I didn't know that would work  ... thanks for the tip!!

  • I haven't been able to successfully run GenX2 or GenX since I installed DS 4.14. Am I the only one? The UI is there but there are no source or target figure options. Anyone know how to fix that? I've installed and reinstalled them both multiple times as well as the add-on packages (I own them all) and enabled and disabled the plug-ins. (insert sound of head hitting wall)
