Problems with DAZ Octane plugin

I ran the Octane prime installation for use with the most recent DAZ studio plugin, but in DAZ studio installed plugins I get the message: "plordazs is not a valid DAZ studio plugin." This suggested something was out of date, so I updated DAZ Studio and my video drivers, repathed octane and the DAZ plugin to test if that was the problem, uninstalled and reinstalled, all to no avail. Also searched the forums on both sites. I'd appreciate any tips that would get me rolling. I did note that this has been an issue in the past with previous versions of the plugin, but none of the suggested routes allowed me to use the plugin in DAZ Studio.

I spent this morning reading the entire manual for the Blender plug-in because there wasn't one for Daz. The only limitations I read were having to have a Nvidia Card etc. regarding hardware. BUT this was an issue back in 2016 maybe you can rejuvenate the old thread.

  • Have you possibly had a version of Octane previously installed on your system? When this is the case, you have to uninstall the previous one or Daz won't load either one and will cause errors. Other than that installer for OcDs 2020.1.5.55 most definetly works in Daz 4.12 and 4.14 both in my experience so far, with the latest Nvidia drivers. Maybe check out if this thread https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=73445 contains any of the explanation you may need, it's the official thread for 2020 but specs and requirements (and bugs) shouldn't differ between it and Prime version.

  • All helpful hints, and thanks. After running through things again I believe my problem is pathing the files to my DAZ Studio folder. I'm trying it manually, still with no luck. I did have Octane loaded previously, but to other folders. I've search for old .dll and data files and think they're all gone, but I'm probably wrong. I wish there was an easier way to install this. Hopefully, with the steps that have been taken recently, DAZ will streamline the process a bit.

  • I just installed it 3 days ago, I also use custom folder path, from what I remembered, the correct root folder path goes like this Daz 3D -> application -> 64bit -> DazStudio4(this should be the final folder or whichever one you renamed)

And you need to use Octane's external web tool for a final validation.  Hope that helps.

  • Thanks, all, for trying to help. I tried retracing my steps (and moved mountains of data files), but still can't install octane for Daz Studio from Otoy's downloaded installer. I went with the "normal" suggested path for Daz Studio, so it's there, right where it belongs--no customized pathing. All the files are getting where they belong as well. Now I get the warning: "The procedure entry point CuDeviceGetUuid could not be located in the dynamic link library .../octane.dll." So, the path is correct and the plug-in installs, but now what's wrong? Otoy's customer support linked me back to the downloader page and asked me to sign up for a free acount, but I'm all logged-in already, and I can access all my account info. On the Daz Studio end I get the message: "Library could not be loaded. File is not a valid Daz Studio plug-in, or was made for a different version of Daz Studio." The .dll in question is plorDazs.dll, which is in the plugins folder where it belongs, but is reading "invalid." My versions of all the software involved here are up to date. I'm beginning to think this is an account issue. The only thing I can imagine at this point is that I used my old account info from America, but I'm currently living and working in Japan. Still awaiting a reply from their customer support. Thanks again for trying to help!

Did you find a solution to this DLL problem? I just tried to install OctaneRender_for_DazStudio_2020_1_0_55_PRIME.exe and I get the same error :(

I had to go work with otoy to get a new Octane account, because mine was no longer accessible via my old email address. After a week or so I tried to connect all the dots again and it worked. If the installer can't connect with Octane for some reason, it obviously can't complete the installation. The .dll searched for will be missing. Hope that sheds more light on it.

Thanks for the information. I am trying to get some help from the otoy support team and hoping for the best :)

  • Hi, I'm also having trouble installing Octane Render Plugin. I'm trying to install OctaneRender_for_DazStudio_2020_2_3_58_PRIME but everytime  I run the installer it tells me Daz isn't installed in that location!!!! I've se3arched the whole drive for other possible locations but each time get the same error message.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to rectify this?

    Thanks in advance.
