Zero Expression - Does It Actually Work?

in The Commons
Most expression packs have a Zero Expression/Dials icon. Does it actually work for anyone? Actually returning the face to no expression? Because it does maybe, maybe one in ten times for me. And there are several expressions I've used that freeze the face there, where nothing works to restore it, even 'Figure-->zero-->Zero Selected Items Pose. Zero expression or zero pose might sometimes release it back to a prevoious pose, but oftentimes not, to the point that I have to completely zero the figure to repose the face. Any tips?

What he said AND more, not every expression morph default is set at zero. Some are set to 50% at 'zero' or neutral.
This product was actually made to work in both troublesome scenarios.

I use the universal pointer, select the face, then the little gizmo appears withe the tiny t-pose icon comes up with 2 choices "Restore selected item/(s) pose" and "Restore Figure Pose". I use the first one just for the face to remove any expression/pose. Sometimes, the gizmo is in the corner, sometimes the tiny figure icon appears next to the joint you are selecting. Here's the gizmo
Fascinating. How incredibly weird. Thank you very much.
The reason it's like this is because of how the Zero Expression preset is saved. If you have special dials that came with a pack, then it will usually default those expression dials back to zero, and often any of the basic facial expressions. But if it wasn't saved with other dial packs, those won't be dialed back to zero.
(Though less convenient, another option for removing expressions is to click the head, then go to the Parameters or Posing tab and click "Currently Used" to find dials that refuse to be zeroed out via preset).
I know for my pose/expression packs, I've generally let "Zero Expression" include any expression dials I currently have loaded to my computer, as a way to make it easier to completely zero the face. The downside is this could be a pain if you only want to remove expressions I've added, and also, it only applies to sets I have installed. But many PAs work from cleaner setups, so the only thing on their computer is the immediete set they're working on (which avoids accidentally affecting dials from another set... and often loads a lot faster), and for those cases, Zero Expression would only work with their set (or sets that are working from the same dials).
Not sure if that made it more or less confusing, but hopefully it explains why that happens. :-)
