I found that it isn't really a poke trough. It's a hole drawn on the cutout opacity mask.

I filled the hole and the issue is fixed.

I don't think sharing a product's texture maps in the forums is allowed. Just saying :/

Maybe they should have posted the texture map that works, since that is different from the one that is being sold to people.

yep, same here. Nice addition to the gene pool for me.

I can see the seam issue if I really look hard enough and will put in a support ticket, but not a deal breaker for me since I don't so closesups of necks and I like rarestone products.

did a quick test render so I see how the face works dialed down a bit and a few other morphs applied

I've been conflicted about getting her.  I think she's absolutely adorable!  The moment I saw a promo of her, I thought, "Wow, I NEED her in my collection!"  It was almost an immediate buy.  But then I looked at the hair in some of the promos.   I wondered if I was just being picky about the hair (hair is probably my biggest purchase from the Daz store) till I read through this thread.  And now the seam issue.  I still think I might pick her up, as I don't do a lot of closeup renders.  And I could always apply some fixes in post.  She just feels so unique compared to the other figures in my library.

Agreed, she is unique. Not just that average DAZ "perfect" model, but rather the girl next door. On the other hand, it is really not well done, compared to other characters, e.g. https://www.daz3d.com/tavia-for-genesis-8-female. For me, Fredda is worth keeping, but I will refrain buying anything from those PA's in the future. At least until all the issues with their characters are fixed. Yes, I do keep a blacklist, a grey list, and a whitle list of PA's. Fortunately, quite the majority are on my whitelist.

  • Yep, she is Fredda at some point, I prefer modify her "zbrushified shin and nose" to some more natural

I would not say it is the worst character I ever purchased form the DAZ store, but I do agree that the skin texture is not at all suitable for closeups (due to seams), and the hair is a joke. A bad one, though. From a distance, Fredda looks really cute. I have put the PA's on my personal "greylist". I would not again buy any product that is not at least a week in the store....

This is the third item I've bought from this pair based on their promotion pictures, and it's the third time I've found the product to be of poor quality.  Until these two learn to to put as much care into their products as they do into their promo images they'll get not another penny from me.

  • Greylist for me too... got some nice products but lacks the polish required to elevate them to where they could be.

    I think it's a great product!

  • I think the character looks a lot better if you set the head morph to about 80%-85%

It is so strange. Some of Rarestone's previous products are amazing. The 200 morph packs are packed with unique shaping options. Many of the characters are great, and often packed with extra stuff. But the past few have been just a bit off. And it really does come down to that repeating gloss texture I mentioned earlier. The textures are clearly painted in a 2d application, so this results in seams across the UV. It is not visible on the other body textures, but with how the head UV is scaled differently than all other maps, it becomes quite visible there. It also makes the neck just look kind of bad and splotchy.

From a user standpoint, the easiest fix is to swap these textures with another character. Most bump and gloss mats will work on different characters fine. Of course, this doesn't address the problem. Like I said before rarestone really needs to either use a merchant resource for these maps, or they need to use an application that can paint across the UV map.

As for the hair, I don't even know where to begin. You can tell in the promos the hair isn't that good. Daz needs to up their QA game significantly and not let something like that in the store. The seam issue is one thing, but the hair is just plain bad. And Daz even pushed this product on the store page in its sale. I place the burden of quality squarely on Daz here. Ultimately they decide what is allowed in their stores, and if PAs don't get turned down, they will believe what they did is acceptable.
  • Curious if any of the issues have been fixed (or if a ticket was put in from anyone that bought her)  She is on sale and being pushed on the store front page... I'm tempted, but I don't wanna have to tweak anything (again) after I buy it.

    Sigh.......

i quite like her, and most of my renders are full-body so i'll never see the smaller quirks that seem to have been noticed by others.

it was actually the hair i was buying and the character was a bonus; almost every hair set i have has a really hard and defined hairline i.e. HAIR ENDS HERE/FOREHEAD STARTS HERE and it was really refreshing to see one that had a thinner hairline and more wispy than the usual. i'm happy with my purchase.

Unfortunately, the hair is not yet fixed.

  • From what I can see with a quick ad-hoc try, the seam between the head and torso textures is no longer (that) visible in renders. You have to do extreme close-ups to still notice a very, very thin line, but you have to position the lighting such that it comes from beneath the neck line. With such extreme conditions, I have seen lines on almost all figures so far.

So, quality of the textures has highligy improved. I am still disappointed by the hair, though. But Fredda looks nice with other hair as well, and now she can be part of closeup renders.
