Dang.  Sony pulled the game from the PS store, and MS is offering refunds.  Kind of glad I hung back with this one.

It's OK on desktop (some bugs, nothing too serious).  I think it has problems on console.

  • So I have the game on Ps4 Pro. The graphics look decent enough to me although I have many of the graphics options turned off because one of them or a combination of those options was causing the game to crash consistantly. Even with those options off, I still think that the graphics look fine. I have roughly 50 hours in the game so far. Ive stopped playing because I want to wait for update progress.

Everyone keeps talking about the bugs which bothers me a little bit. Im not talking about the massive performance issues that people are having, those should never have made it to retail. Im talking about the bugs like genetals protruding from clothes or characters getting stuck in their T-pose. There are tons of bugs that ive seen. I spent a good 8 hours just looking for bugs in the game. Damage decals that dont move when the object that they are applied to does. My character graphic got pulled away from my cyber arms and stayed stuck at my feet, looked like she had melted away. Then there was the time that I got launched into the sky while I was driving and landed on the opposite side of the city. I been soft locked in a conversation that I couldnt exit, Ive gotten stuck between object geometry and Ive accessed at least two game locations before I was supposed to. And then there are the menus which are also buggy and combersome. None of this really bothered me because we live in the age of the update. The bugs will be fixed.

What bothers me about the game is the surprising lack of content that exists in the free rome world and the bare bones implementation of the few features that are in place. You cant buy property, you cant customize vehicles or clothing. No garage for vehicle storage because you are actually expected to purchase vehicles that you want to keep. You cant gamble, there are no other activites other than just the shoot em up kind, no random world events, etc. The cops dont even come after you most of the time after youve commited a crime. Even the driving physics are a joke. And too my great dissapointment, you cant drive flying cars. You cant even enter them. Theres just so much missing that it feels like the development emphasis was on the graphics and gameplay was a second thought. This game supposedly took seven or eight years to build but the code feels like it was just thrown in at the last moment. It feels alpha at best. Early access.

Im rambling. There is fun to be had in the game. Its just inconsistent. I think Sony and MS are making the right decission by pulling the game.

The problem is 100% with the base XBox One and PS4 (it should have never been released for the previous generation). PS4 Pro is reportedly ok and those who have the new consoles are fine. The game runs wonderful on PC.

I have to chuckle at the folks who complain about graphical bugs...those of us who are Bethesda veterans are like the book-reading elite giggling off to the sidelines as we watch the uninitiated react to The Red Wedding for the first time. :P

The game is fun...though it's less a true RPG and more GTA: CyberPunk Edition. I can definitely see the arguments folks have made talking up what CDPR initially promised. Where is the ability to go sit and actually eat and drink? They spent the time creating so many food items that all do the same thing and you never get to see your character eat any of them. No real factions...they're all just equally agressive towards the main character. Unique backstories with so much potential that mean a whole heap of nothing on the grand scheme of things. And of course, the illusion of your choices actually making a difference. I'm pretty sure I sound like I'm complaining about a BioWare game at this point, haha.

If you look closely the geometry is pretty low res (shoulder, forearm), so I'm guessing it's simply base texture and bump.   I mean you'd think that's quite an easy thing for an artist to do, which is why I don't really understand why we don't see it on characters in Daz.  I guess to be more generic it needs to be its own layer.

    Vascularity, Keanu

Videogame geometry are made of triangles, not quads, and only heads are some heavy poly but the body are low, uses diffuse 2048x2048 map and a normal map.

I uninstalled the game because of bugs. I beat the game already but there were several missions that drove me crazy because of the bugs (crashing, making me start over, soft-locked from finishing a quest, etc)

    Here's a meme I found funny

I'm enjoying the main story.  I don't really care too much about the roleplay stuff.  As for the bugs, that's normal on a day 1 release.  I found kind-of a funny one.  If you're in motion (walking) having performed a non-lethal takedown with the guy over your shoulder and you put him down, the game will smash him down and some of his limbs will go flying.  I intended to go through the entire game without killing anyone but I can't really do that it seems.

Anyway I wanted to pull this back to character rendering.  I think I'll compile a bunch of screens and add something to the "Product Suggestions" thread.

I dont know how I got it, but somewhere in the game I came across a mod chip that turns the modded weapon into a non-lethal weapon. You might try looking for that.

Actually that's one of my criticisms of the game.  There's no conscious effort (or any effort at all actually) to show you what/how to do all that.  I have no idea how to "craft" or "mod".  I just sell all the stuff I get, maybe switch out a weapon or two.

  • Just read this morning on Eurogamer, all PC gamers need to make sure that your save file does not get any larger than 8MB otherwise it will be permanently corrupted.

I'm a little disappointed, I was looking forward to this game... I like big open world games like this and GTA.

This looked like it was going to be one of those must have games that comes along every few years... looking at some of the videos out there, I'm kinda surprised it was released... at least for consoles.

Since I have no intention of buying a next gen console for a long while, I probably won't ever get this game... I doubt this will be fixed for the PS4 any time soon if ever.

It's OK I guess. Lots of bugs though. Had to restart a mission like 20 times, supposed to kill a dude to get a key, but dude kept going through walls, ceiling and floor when I killed him so I couldn't get the key. The stupid fighting missions suck. I dodge a punch/kick, am like 10 feet away from enemy, but magically get knocked out anyways. Rage inducing. Driving is pretty bad too, making me hesitate to try the races lol. It reminds me of a bad emulation of GTA4 driving. Even tried using a 360 controller, didn't seem to help any. I end up running and using the warp thingies to get around. Takes like 10 minutes for stamina to run out when sprinting, so not that bad.

You're playing on PC?  I've had none of these issues.  The driving is pretty fun as well imho.  Not had any clipping issues with missions.  Plenty of bugs, yes.  But nothing breaking.  The story is pretty good though.  I'm really enjoying that.

Yes. Too much GTA for my taste.

Deus Ex franchise lacks of traffic seems artificial, too convenient.Well, after playing this game i think Deus Ex got it right. I spend so much time trying not to mess the driving during trivial travels that it is kind of a turn off.

avels that it is kind of a turn off.

This game is nothing like GTA!  GTA is not even an RPG. The only similar things to GTA are openworld, cars and people. The rest is an amazing world of hundreds of side quest, gigs, and encounters.  It does need to be fixed in many ways.  AI, character customization, gear, police system and many otehr things. I have played over 50 hours. Its right up there with my favorite games of the last decade.  I'm playing on PC though.

  • I'm on PC, and other than a couple of crashes, it's been really good.

For driving: I find 3rd-person view is essential to see where I'm turning so I just set it to that. Ever since I got a bike, I just use that and weave between the cars. Surprisingly (other than the one time I hit a truck at great speed), it seems much easier to control a bike.

  • I got run over crossing the road.

I'm totally on Team Judy, but I don't think that happen until B-cups replace double Ds in popularity.

Just finished it for the first time after about 70h. Awesome story and in my opinion a generally well done world. There is a lot that could be much better of course, but I definitely got my money worth out of it. I was playing on PC and a fairly high end one, so I was lucky there. Only two crashes in total and a bunch of minor graphical glitches but nothing game breaking or immersion killing. On console the game seems to be a royal mess, really a shame they messed that up. There is a really good game there under all that.
now back to the next more relaxed run as Nomad (first was a corporate one).

    ciao

Ah, the bugs.  My very well cared for self-driving car arrived at my location looking like this after I'd called it to me:

    My car

If you're going to have bugs, I suppose it's better to have bugs that make you laugh.  I wonder if it's by design, if you leave it in a dodgy neighbourhood.
