Help with Fantasy Cloth Wrap Morphs G2F -> G8F

https://www.daz3d.com/fantasy-cloth-wrap-for-genesis-2-female-s

I am trying desperately to get the morphs for this product to work on G8F.

Someone pointed out that it was designed for G2F, so the bones do not work on G8F and therefore the morphs have no effect.

So, is there any other way I can get this to work with a work around method? It really needs the morphs to work properly.

If I purchase a G2F figure, I could use it on that figure and it would work, but I need G8F for the scene. Can I possibly pose it on G2F and then somehow transfer it to G8F without breaking it?

Please help.

  • You already have Genesis 2 Female. {part of the Genesis 2 Starter Bundle}

Are these cloths a "fit to" item? If so the dialog for autofit should appear so you could select the appropriate T posed autofit clone {see my siggie} so it should fit to G8F.

That is the whole problem, because when you "fit to" G8F (with G2F as the "created for" item), it removes the bones from the clothing. The bones are needed for the morphs.

I might try to put the clothes on a G2F figure with the pose I need, run the morph, unparent the clothes, and then hide the G2F figure.

Could I then cleverly slide a G8F figure with same pose into position?

Only problem is I have ony a few G2F poses, so I will need a G2 > G8 pose converter too.

  • In principle you could restore the bones with the Joint Editor tool and weight-map them with the Node Weight Paint Brush tool, using the plaement and weights of the original as a guide to what was needed.

    Thanks! I will try that.

I wonder if this would convert the Fantasy Wrap while keeping the bones:

Right. Then that's not a normally made {i.e. the easy way made} item. You would have to use SY's tutorial {over on Deviantart} - think it either goes with, or one of her converters works along the required lines. The end result after a rather convoluted method of conversion results in those extra bones not being lost.

If this all is just for a picture, I would simply load G2F, load the ribbons, pose as desired - hide G2F, swap in G3F {if you have the shapes can also dial in some G2F} and render away.

There are pose converters, some free ones too. Or one can use a similar pose and tweak it.

eta: Ivy has some free poses for G2F over at sharecg.com.

I decided I'm going to use your suggestion: If this all is just for a picture, I would simply load G2F, load the ribbons, pose as desired - hide G2F, swap in G3F {if you have the shapes can also dial in some G2F} and render away.

It's probably the easiest way. I don't want to pay for a clothing converter that may/may not preserve the bones just for one item.

I have a G8 - > G2 pose script converter that I can use on the desired pose so that I get the G2 figure in the right pose, then I'll swap in the G8.

This is all just for reference for a painting I would like to do, so it doesn't have to be perfect... that's where the paint and artistic license comes in. ;-)

    Much appreciated!

You're welcome. Certainly for referencing this should be just fine. And the energy certainly is better spent being creative with your artwork, have fun :-)
