Kayla, Kyla & all things RareStone

Well I own most of RareStone's products so I will definitely get Kayla. Although there are I few things which are a bit irritating.

What is that "cyborgesque" line in the chin area? Will that be visible in renders?

And what/who is Kayla 1.0? I like the promos saying 1.0 on them:

Those promos are from some deco/background products if I remember right. Always wanted to have that character. But I have no Kayla 1.0 although owning most of RareStone stuff as I've said. There is a figure called "Kyla for G3F" which I own. Is that supposed to be Kyla 1.0?

Hopefully, @Rarestone would provide direct commentary on subject.

  • The head using to show the Hair was a scaned STL model, it is not Kayla the character, it is a little bit of confusing there. But it is not Kayla for sure. Kayla is acutally re-make-ed from my 1st character product Kyla.laugh

  • the Old version 1.0 was bulit half a year ago with continuous fixing the out look of Kayla...so it called..

  • Fredda was made for Halloween, you can see her name is quite like Freddy-you-know-who-he-is, but way out of schedule, so I removed all the terror part of her.indecision

I stopped buying Rarestone after "HD Fredda and Fredda Hair". I was warned after Gou Luk. I have open tickets for both. Gou Luk's eye brows are occasionally located on the upper forehead. For Fredda, skin textures do not align. There is a visible seam where the face texture meets the body/neck texture. And the "hair" is a bad joke - a painted hair cap, plus a few strands of hair. Unless these are fixed, Rarestone and Nirvana, share a nice place on my blacklist.

I do have to admit that Kayla HD is very tempting. Judging just from the promo pictures, I would have instantly bought it, if I would not have had my prior bad experience.

  • yes, those issues are already fixed, but I am not paying attention ot the hair problem, I will go back and check again.

  • I think DAZ will upload the fixing files for Fredda after the vacation.laugh

  • And GouLuk is also fixed- ALOT - a huge fixing for Gouluk.

    Does Kayla need fixing?

  • Kayla look way to much like Fredda. Give Fredda the hair/clothes used in Kayla promo and you get the same character.

  • I want Kayla, she has the sweetest smiles. I really love the expressions your girls take, Rarestone.

But I'm going to have to wait and see if she has any issues, and if they get a quick fix first.

Kayla is fantastic. Instabuy, comes with a lot of options and she looks the most realistic thanks to the special expressions and details. Here is fast render from me :

PS Thank you Rarestone for all your work and amazing products!

Yeah I was confused today. Fredda and Kayla are basically the same character.

This makes it sound like Kayla was the normal version and Fredda, the spooky version.

  • laughMaybe they are smiling the same way make they look the similar, but they are defeniately 2 different character.

  • I don't think Kayla has the same seam issue.

I can't stop by and don't give my opinion, so here I go :

No, they don't look alike! Fredda has a very peculiar jaw shape, smaller eyes, and mouth, she also has a very different nose, and aren't the same either. Their eyebrows and skintones may look alike and there you'd have to look for a very short time, but that's about it! Their smile both would melt iceberg though, so Rarestone should be more carefull with that in the future, for all the climatic problem and stuff... xD Joke aside... Rarestone has a nack for wonderfull smiles!

As for me, I'm melting for Kayla, but still in hesitation because I'm very picky and selective on the figure I grab!

Anyway, all that to say on this huge amount of criticism : be at rest, RareStone, they don't look alike! :D

  • Can anyone check if the hair is set up for dForce? I don't see anything listed on the product page but I'm just curious if that might have slipped through the cracks. The character looks wonderful. But seeing Fredda was supposed to be a Halloween themed release, I hope that we get to see what she was like at some point in the store!

  • Think of Freddy the Night Slayerdevil

  • She was having a cosplay outfit of Freddy Kureger and a brunt skin materials

@benniewoodell, the hair did not have simulation settings when I checked. Have my render cooking now.

There are a lot of sliders for movement but I did find the left and right sliders for the front sides reversed on which moves which, yet the other sliders for the sides move everything okay.

  • But Later I think that burnt skin is really not appropriate and suitable to put on a minor character, so I just go and removed them.frown

Don't see no seems or nothing on it so far. But it does have the issue I have been having lately of skin bump and or normal looking waaaaaaay too high. Not sure why it's happening lately, or maybe it's just the lighting I used makes it stand out more. Who knows lol.

@RareStone I think that nightmare cosplay looks fantastic. He's one of my favorite horror characters so it would be a lot of fun to have. I get it though with not having it on a minor character, but I hope you decide to make a new character with that as I would pick that up in a heartbeat.

@memcneil70 thank you so much for checking! I've been getting into dForce hair so much lately for my animated film that I'm trying to build up my collection and just want to know if I would use this hair for my still renders or animation.

Actually, I was wrong, in this case I had to dial down HD details to tone down the bump details, not the normal/bump maps :D

A little over two hours and one render of Kayla. Rarestone, I have bought almost everything you have released and have enjoyed all of them and found them useful in many ways.

One issue with Kayla that becomes very noticeable in close-ups on her face: Her eyelashes are not shaped to match the puffiness below her eyes.  The lower lashes heavily clip inside her skin, which makes their placement look strange, particularly for the inner lashes (nearest the nose).

You might also notice there are a bunch of extra hair texture artifacts floating in the air below her lower lashes. Those do appear in renders as well, not just in the viewport.
