Any alternatives?

Are there any alternative for Classic Long hair with dForce? https://www.daz3d.com/classic-long-hair-with-dforce-for-genesis-8-females

My low end PC really struggles with dForce, and even more so with dForce hair.

Thanks for any help.

Note that the hair you referenced uses the dForce cloth engine, not the dForce hair engine. In my experience the former tends to be a lot easier on resources. I have a pretty high end PC, and even this struggles with a lot of dForce hairs, as the memory requirements (I mean normal memory, not VRAM) can be really extreme. I have always found the classic long hair pretty easy on resources, for both simulation and render.

Don't know if it's particularly resource saving, but it's a lovely hair piece and it's not dForce: https://www.daz3d.com/wild-wind-hair-for-genesis-8-females

I have confess that I had a product that I could never simulate (https://www.daz3d.com/long-wet-hair-with-dforce-for-genesis-8); the hair was too complex for my ancient mac so it would churn forever and never do anything.  So i did some research and learned that if I turned down the SubD of the hair for the simulation from 3 to 1,  It DForced  and then i could turn it back up for the render so that is worth a try since you already have the product.

I recently purchased it. It has a lot of geo shells attached. You can delete those for your scene without loosing too much realism. Just try your simulation again without those extras.

surpriseI had no idea that there was a hair engine. Having said that (after looking) I do have something for dForce hair, but I have no idea what it's for, or how to use it.

I've got the dForce Lea Hair 2 https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-lea-hair-2-for-genesis-3-and-8-females . I've only used it once. It was simulating for over 3 hours (I ended up cancelling the simulation). I haven't really used it since (the dForce aspect of it).

I saw your comment and purchased it immediately. It was $2.00 at the time. Thank you ^^

I've wanted that hair since I learned that there were sandy geo shells included with it. But I was put off by very slow dForce simulation times. It's on my wishlist now.

Hopefully, lowering the SubD will help the problem(s) that I'm having with Lea Hair 2.

Thanks for the replies, everyone :)

One of my fav hairs. I am so used to dforce times, I don't think twice about it. I find that on my system, if the hair isn't in the veiwport when i start the simulation, it runs much faster. I just set up the scene and the simulation, then apply a camera that is above the hair and then run it.
