    Happy New Year as well!

These are not New Year's resolutions though. I do and break resolutions all year round. laugh

My wish has a lot and very little to do with DAZ at the same time but it's short:

    a) There is actually available so I can buy either a RTX 3060 12GB or RTX 3070 8GB at $50 or less over MSRP by Jun 01, preferably Mar 01 now that Christmas is finished again for another year.

More shoes for G8M. There are hardly any, except for the ones included in the clothing kits. For G8F there is a plethora. And... ta dah! Finally and it's a top one on my list (although hardly possible) an uncrashable Daz studio and a truly working support desk. :)

    1) A red panda with Dforce hair (cutest cute little furry animal in the known multiverse).

    2) More fantasy / historical ballgown type dresses.  The more elaborate and over the top the better.

    3) A 64 bit Hexagon. There was a beta version a while back but nothing seems to have come of this project.  For those of us who don't like Blender (to put it as politely as I can) this would be a major step forwards.

    4) More breeds for Dog 8, with Dforce hair, especially a Westie (the second cutest cute little furry animal in the known multiverse).

    Cheers,

    Alex.

    Yes I love red pandas!

More fancy dresses are always good. To add to that more fancy hairs that match them too

It can, unless you mean somethign other than use two or more nVidia GPUs.

  • Er... are you sure. Last I understood it could only take advantage of the ram of one GPU.

VRAM pooling isn't a thing that DAZ has any control over. SLI doesn't pool vram, but NVlink can, theoretically anyways. I have two 2080s that are linked, and sometimes I wonder if the pooling is working at all, but this isn't a thing that daz has control over from my understanding, I could of course be terribly wrong or have set something up wrong as well. If you have 2 nvlinked gpus you need to let daz know in the render settings though, see the attached pic.

What Richard was saying is that you can use any number of any cuda based gpus in a system, I used to have a system with 2 1070s and a 1050ti and all those would render iterations in iray, if the scene would fit on the 1050 that is. You can utilize a 1080 + a 3090 + a 970 if you had them in a system and fit your scene on them all.

  • I want to add another RTX 2070 super to my system, but only if it would double my VRAM in renders. If not there is really no point, except it would make Tomb Raider look amazing. LOL.

  • You know what? I have a wish, it's a simple wish, but every time I use smart content I wish for it...

I wish eyebrows weren't considered hair. I mean I get that they ARE hair, but when I'm looking for a hair product to put on a character, I don't want to see characters, I want to see hair.

If I want eyebrows, I don't go to the hair section, I search eyebrow in the files section.

Does anyone look for eyebrows in the hair section? Shouldn't eyebrows be set to the anatomy section? Eyelashes are. I see eyebrows more like anatomy than hair anyway.

Does the 2070 support nvLink, and can you get a second 2070 Super that matches the current one and an nvLink? If so i believe you would get pooling for materials (not geometry etc.), although there would be a perfomance hit.

Yeah, memory pooling works now, according to reports in the benchmarking thread and elsewhere, and the performance hit isn't that big.

I never use smart content, but in the content library, eyebrows are usually never in hair and under anatomy or in some cases with the character files.

Yeah, I can see why some people wouldn't use smart content, I like it for the visual reference, can't always remember which hair is this or what outfit is that. The eyebrows are all over the place in smart content, some are in hair, others are in anatomy.

I only use smart content when I don't know what I want, I wouldn't rely on it though as it misses too much, so does the search.

I have textures sets that work on clothing of multiple generations that never show up in any of those, not just MFD either a few G2F outfits had G3F versions for instance with bonus textures, some I only bought those bonus textures.

    • Genesis 9, if only to cut over from my Genesis 8 library. There's only so much more I can tack onto Genesis 8 right now.
    • Less dForce everything, more conforming clothing again? (Squishy tubes with dForce - this is not a pant leg, IMO.)
    • More themes/sets? I like the trend towards bundled stuff. Clothing, character, vehicle, environment. It's not just Daz, but some of the vendors doing this as well. Of course, you had OOT & Raiya doing some of this earlier (hair/character/clothing), along with a few other vendors. I'm glad it's catching on, and I hope that trend continues.
    • Fewer Pro bundles? Again, the "Copycat 8 Pro" bundle concept pretty much died (and good riddance, IMO), so the move towards these new bundles has been generally pretty good, I think. I also think about Crusader Kings 3, one of my favorite computer games... their model (this time) is to put out fewer add-on packs, but bigger/beefier ones instead. IMO, I wouldn't mind the fewer-but-bigger approach with Daz stuff, but then the pricing would have to be right for us and right for Daz/the artists to make a living. On the other hand, smaller-but-more-cohesive (Ysabeau 6 comes to mind) would also be good, if quantity of releases were more important.
    • More skimpwear and whatnot. :) Yeah, I can go to the other store(s) for that, but there are only so many full coverage quasi-retro swimsuits and dForce tube pants and dForce ankle-length skirts that I need. We're kind of past the saturation point with full skin coverage clothing in Genesis 8?

wishlist does not mean necessary 3D or yes?

    3D goals:

A WORKING AND STABLE VERSION OF DAZSTUDIO.

    Non 3D Goals:

Horse Stance 5 minutes long. (actually 90 seconds)

Winning Lotto and live in Japan, marrying Ai Shinozaki or Aika Sawaguchi and have 12 daughters named as IZ*ONE Kpop members

I'm only going to add a little thing. A tweak to Mesh Grabber to that it doesn't push clothing through the skin of the characher that's wearing it..... like Poser's morph brush. Adding wrinkles to clothing and adjusting fit is hard with MG when it doesn't recognise there's figure beneith it.

Yes! The only thing I wish for in the store. Highly detailed shoes, like the Badkitteh boots - these are fantastic! It's a pain to have realistic clothing and not have shoes to match the realistic style because a lot of Male shoes lack the details.

I hope DAZ keeps improving the bridges, they are great features for those who use DAZ content in other apps. And - one can dream- I hope DAZ can release the DSON importer for Maya, and that it helps DAZ attract a lot of new users to the store so it returns the investment.

  • Totally agree on the "more male content" points!  Would love to see more 16k/32k HDRIs too! I absent-mindedly bought an HDRI set yesterday without thinking to check how old it was (it didn't mention image res in the description) and sure enough when I loaded it up I couldn't get a nice looking render over 720p.

Top of my wishlist for DAZ Studio: dForce with the following improvements:

    1. The ability to pull, drag, re-position cloth during the simulation (as is possible with Marvelous Designer, Blender Cloth Sim and VWD).

    2. Faster simulation - it is just painfully slow compared to other cloth sims.

Apart from dForce, a more comprehensive implementation of Filament would be nice so that hair and skin look more realistic.

These are some great wishes. Most of them achieveable with some outside 3D apps but one can totally dream :)

+1 on Filament and getting all the plumbing done. Even in the short term, I'd settle for fixing the transparency issues. This is a good step forward for animators.

More female shoe kits would be nice too.

Loading video into the backdrop and/or plane would be AMAZING - truly a dream come true. I know there are scripts but having this natively work would be wonderful.

DAZ studio is in fact the only 3D software I own that won't do this.

I do use Casual's TexAnim script and it works with Filament too for textures (not tried the background)

it is odd they just cannot integrate the functionality even with their Qt4 build since the maths functions exist

in Carrara, Poser and iClone (and even once Blender)I have even used animated image based lighting (usually animated cloud loops)

D|S is at least 10 years behind the times here.

D|S is at least 10 years behind the times here.

If I recall correctly InfiniD could utilize movies/loops in textures and backdrops in the early 90's. It also had particle emitters with gravity, a mesh editor (with a mesh grabberyeswink) and a spline patch editor. It had built in dynamic lense flares and whatnotfrown

Won't happen unless the sun freezes over:

    • Change the Carrara file format to reduce save times and reduce saved scene sizes (300 Mb isn't uncommon right now).
    • Fix Genesis / Genesis 2 support in Carrara. It's really hit or miss right now with clothing and such.

    Probably won't happen:

    • Add Cycles as a native rendering option to Studio without having to export to Blender. Cycles is faster than Iray and supports more GPUs.

    Might happen:

    • Fix the DSON importer so it works in Poser 12.
    • +1 on the gryphon suggestion. A good gryphon character to go along with Dragon 3 would be great.
    • Fix the broken G4 character support in the latest updates to Studio.
    • Fix the long-standing disappearing mouse pointer problem.

    Probably will happen:

    • +1 on improvements to Filament so it properly supports transparency, spotlights, and glow.
    • Fix existing bugs in Filament (textures sometimes render in completely the wrong color, for example, My black DAZ horse 2 came out in neon green)

Genesis 9, if only to cut over from my Genesis 8 library. There's only so much more I can tack onto Genesis 8 right now.

Please, gods no. Focus on creating some decent non-human characters and leave Genesis alone for awhile. Fun fact: There is more content available for Victoria 4 than there is for any version of Genesis other than Genesis 8. Why? Because for a long time, Daz was pumping out new generations of Genesis faster than the PAs could produce content for them. And pretty much any time a new version of Genesis comes out, the PAs move on to support the latest figure and stop creating content for the older ones. This makes Genesis a money pit for users.

This is what I would love to see in the store next year:

    * Large HDRI domes (10 000 pix or larger) so you can use them for larger pictures than today.

HDRIHaven.com is the best place to get free, non watermarked HDRI's up to 16K and some even higher.  You have to set them up manually but you can save out presets for yourself if you want too.
