Go fund me, May I post one for a commisioned project for community?

I'm not sure If this is where to post the question. I have requested a commision price of a 3d designer to make a "bridge" between two different models much like you do for Genesis 8 Male Centaur I believe it's called the "Male Centaur Wearable Preset", except it will be between the Daz Big Cat 2 (Lion) and Genesis 8 figure. The "bridge" being the component that fuses the bodies by hiding the legs of genesis figure and head neck of beast body then smoothly transitioning the two torsos together.  I had played around with the idea myself a while back using M4/F4 in the forums but I just don't have the skills to pull it off on my own. You can see pictures of my attempts there using Hellboy Soto free Vincent model (so awesome Soto so awesome). combining 2 models: LionTaur

My goal is to commision this bridge and make it free for everbody to use but the initial investment is 150.00 and depending on the time investment it can go as high as 600.00   Which brings me to this post. While I am willing to put the initial amout upfront to get the project started would Daz forums allow me to post a go fund me or patreon resource up in an attempt to raise 600 dollars for this endevor since the goal is to make it avalible for the community for free anyways? I've never used these outlets before but I think there's enough people out here in the communit who would be interested in having access to this bridge to make even more wonderful content! Who knows if things go well maybe we can commision a dragontaur or other "taurs" If allowed I'm more than willing to take advice from knowledgable useser on such venues on how to show transparency and accountablity that the money is going where it's supposed to towards the project.

If not thank you for your time and consideration. I'll try doing the go fund me outside of this As I'd really like to have this happen. My next question should this bare fruit, would daz market list it for free or would I have to use places like shareCG?

  • I'm afraid we don't allow fund-raiser posts.

It might be worth approaching Daz directly, see what they say.

  • Between the lion and G8M ... give me a minute or 2.

Well yes one could make a geograft semi-joiner between G8M and the Big Cat 2 ... however you'd need to figure out what you want for that area of the neck upwards. With centaurs, horses have large necks, lions don't.

Image is a rough draft - the geograft on G8M would need to be redone. The cat's head would need to be hidden of course but replaced with a breast meshplate perhaps.

n.b. these are 2 figures, one parented to the other. The geograft is to make a joiner that also hides half G8M's body.

I know a little bit about geografting, how it's like a second skin layer that's slightly raised but I don't know what that semi-joining concept works, perhaps somehow you fuse the two geo together between lion chest/neck + human torso? Maybe I can find out more about it in Daz help section. I wonder how it would flex when the figure moved. Interesting idea. I wonder if that's how this bridge concept is made. I thought it was something more on the constructed side of things vs an expanded skin layer.

A GeoGraft usually has to align precisely with a loop of vertices on the figure it fits to - otherwise it won't graft - where it welds in place, as if part of the same mesh, and usually hides some other parts of the model. The centaurs are modified versions of the Daz Horse 2, repositioned to line up with the human and modified to fit at the weld line (and then hide the legs on the human). Obviosuly you won't be able to do that, since you wouldn't be allowed to distribute a modified Big Cat 2 (unless you did a deal with Daz, of course) but you could make an add-on for the cat that would help to cover any gaps with a posed and parented human torso.

I thought that's what a Bridge (was going to be), an add-on to cover up the gaps.

ok I sent Daz a request as well as any info should I require permisions for Daz orginal content (genesis g8 figs and big cat 2) and a few other questions! Let's see where this goes! Oh most exciting!

Have you considered asking RAWART ( https://www.daz3d.com/rawart ) if they might be interested in such a commission?

    I don't think there's much money in this ;-)

Here is a rather quickly put together geograft for G8M to give the appearance of being joined to the cat. There is a morph for the cat too.

The "apron" is uvmapped so you can texture it ... or make fur/hair on it, whatever, have fun.

No I have not, It's difficult to reach a Content creator from the Daz store. There's no Hub or email list as far as I can tell. You'd think they'd at least have something in the readme files or A link on the product page they are selling, but they don't. At best you can write a trouble ticket and ask them to forward a request to the artist.
