Studio 4.15 - any improvements?

I know there is "Nuts and Bolts" but I did not find anything there. As DIM shows a new studio version does anybody know whether it brings any improvements (especially on mac)? So any findings by the brave folks who already installed it?

No idea, but a new Studio release when we've been teased about a new Genesis, at least try the beta!

I only use Beta really; save release for when beta has issues.

Based on this thread https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/463926/daz-studio-pro-4-15-highlights#latest it looks primarily of an Iray upgrade.

New Studio 5 and Genesis 8.2 are now definitely near in a matter of months.
All recent betas have accelerated preparations for qt engine update; art director talks about improved G8, new store engine, and recent sell-out of G8 bundles (including new ones like Tara) or 72% discounts on entire Daz catalog in plain daily promotion point to imminent bada-boom.
I'm very excited about all the new development, and there is only one thing that can break my love story with Daz permanently.
Daz Central. I'm afraid (how Daz Central has pushed aggressively) that it will be the only way of an installment in a new studio. I hope I'm dead wrong about that.

New render options to tint the environment map and to add reflection to the Ground, both of which look useful. There is also the option to make the Ground visible from below.

There's also Daz Srtudio Discussion, right at the top of the forum list.

Daz central is the same code as DIM with a new UI, it doesn't address the needs of more advanced users and can't install certain types of content. I don't think you need worry about Daz Central only installation.

Yup quite a few changes to make iRay better and the minimum of the 451.48 driver for better Cuda 11 and Optix 7.1 support..

    Really?

Small bet, perhaps? Who loses must plant a tree. Hell, even if I lose, I will plant a tree. I like win-win bets.

    • Preparations toward migration to a considerably newer version of the application framework (i.e., Qt)
      • Changes made should have no discernible impact on use of the application

Daz Studio Pro 4.15 - Highlights - Daz 3D Forums

I recall reading similar language regarding the store upgrade at one point.

Exactly that scared me away from installing the update...

See the 4.14.1.x highlights thread - the comments is pretty much the same. So far 4.15.x.x is a continuation of 4.14.1.x.

Qt is changing their policies, wonder if/how that will affect the development of the DAZ programs.

  • The 4.15 upgrade has made a significant impact for my older render machine. It doesn't failover to CPU for scenes that it used to and render speed in general seems faster. For my primary render machine I don't notice as big of a change, but its all welcome improvements!

Those articles are a year old, and 6.0 was released last month.  Besides, Daz is a for-profit business and was likely already paying for the necessary licences.  It's the people who were using it for free who had to start paying.
