download keeps failing with install manager because of simultaneous update daz software

I purchased my copy of Mousso's Memphis, and when I wanted to download and install - I use Install Manager - Daz also had an update.
Whilst it updated, the download halted, and afterwards I got the message that the download failed,
Tried agin, and again ... must have tried ten, twelve times, and each time the download failed.

I assumed this might be a server problem, so I came to the site and tried manual download. Within fiv seconds or so I had my download.

So, my conclusion is that it is not the server but Daz installing its update whilst downloading.

  • to make it even weirder: whilst downloading for manual install, it also installed through Install Manager...

so the files are installed but the problem is not solved ...

Whenever there's an update to DS, I download and install that separately from anything else. With DS completely shut down. And fingers crossed.

  • I'm not following exactly what happened - did the DIM download eventually succeed or not?

  • I'll try to  be more clear:

1/ I purchase Mousso's Memphis and open Install manager to install it
2/ I notice Daz software has an update.
3/ I start the download and installation proces
4/ I notice the Daz installer also downloads and is ready before Memphis.
5/ The software update begins to install (Windows 10, latest) and the Memphis download stops.
6/ when the update is installed, I assume the download will continue but it stops with the message that the download has failed.
7/ I assume this is because of the interruption, and try again8 the download keeps on failing
8/ I try closing install manager and open it again - DAZ is not open! but that does not help
9/  after several attempts, I close down my puter and reboot, then try again. Download failed.
10/ After several attempts, I decide to come hereto the forum and see whether the servers are overloaded or ... ?  But nothing...
11/ so I decide to open this thread with the first post. Meanwhile another attempt to download via Install Manager is running.
12/ I go back to my puter and notice the download is slow and stopping (around 18%)
13/ I decide to download and install manually.
14/ manual install works perfectly, and the zip downloads in a few seconds.
15/ when I look at Install manager, there is no message of a failed download, on the conrary. And when I open Daz soft, the file has been installed. So I come back here to add the second post.

So: yes, it is installed. But it is *not!* a good idea to let the software update and at the same time download a file.
    Lesson learned.
Perhaps it would be a bnetter idea for DAZ to warn users of an udate without waiting untll they want to download a purchase.
Or, for users to download manually and stop using download and install software.

A DIM download failing for no (obvious) reason has been rather common since end of October, although currently I experience the DIM downloads to be rather stable. I donÄt think that the failed download has anything to do with the parallel insatll of the Studio update. It was just coincidence. I do agree, though, that all downloads and content installs should be suspended by DIM when a new version of Studio is installed. It has potential for quite some damage to the CMS if things really go bad.

I'm currently experiencing that issue of constant download failures as well, without any D|S update. Although, DIM wants to update and keeps failing at that too.

DIM just said there was an update when I started it earlier today, but after the update (or whatever it did) it still had the same version number.  Has happened a few times before but that's a while ago.
