Trying to rotate a figure in place, but instead it spins across the sceen.

Hi, I have a bunch of Genesis figures in my scene that I imported. I have noticed an issue several times where I try to rotate a  figure, and instead of spinning in place, the figure  rotates around the perimeter of a wide circle, not only rotating, but moving actoss the scene. I'd guessed that the cause was the figure was not parented properly, but I checked and there  was no parent at all. Any idea? thanks

Try rotating at the hip or parent the figure to a primative sphere and rotate that.

That usually happens with poses that position a character in a scene environment.  You can assign the individual characters to their own solo group, and then rotate the group.

parent a null and rotate the null with your figure parented to it

Sometimes a figure has sometthing parented to it, or an article of clothing that affects its ability to rotate. Also the environment sometimes is to blame. I've found really large environments can impede figure movement.

  • Usually that is because movement in X and Z directions has been done on the hip instead of the complete figure.
