preview lights not working in 4.14?

in The Commons
Okay I have DS 4.14 going and none of my lights are showing in ANY preview mode except this new filiment thing and it is way too washed out and useless. I am trying to do an iray render and I don't want to have to wait around every time I move something to see if the shadwos fall right in the IRAY preview so I normally use the texture shaded option, but even with the amount of lights I have in the scene it is almost pitch dark. How do I get the lights working in the preview modes again without falling back to 4.13 (because I will if I have to i can't find anything but a preview for filiment, there is no render option for it so it is pretty much useless to me in its current state)

I might have figured it out, though I am not sure this is good for larger sets if there is a limit on the amount of lights you can have in a scene now...
In my experience there is a couple of things that can cause preview lights to go dark.
One is the camera's focal length. If this is very low, like less than 20, then the preview lights for that camera go quite dark. Since the focal length of a camera can change as you pan around the scene, I normally set it to 100 and then lock it. I believe the focal length is only relevant if you render though the camera with DOF (Depth of field) set to ON.
Another setting that affects the preview lights of a camera is the intensity of the headlamp. Even if you switch the headlamp off, the intensity is still used to determine how light the scene is when using preview lights. A value of 0 will mean you see only black through the camera. A default of 1 should be ok, you can set this higher if you like to navigate the scene where everything is quite bright. Note this value will not affect the final render unless the headlamp is ON.
The default is for Preview Lights to be on, so it is trying to preview the scene lights. Are you saying that you get a black viewport in Texture Sahded mode when it is off, or are you talking about the Iray/Filament Drawstyles?
I had the Roman Bath set loaded and the light set that comes with it and in filiment everything was washed out, but you know it does that. in iray preview it would show the lights, b ut I'm not gonna try to set up lights in iray preview mode, in texture shaded mode, there was no lights at all. everything was so dim that you couldn't make anything out (I have it set so only scene lights are visible so I can set the lights properly) but when I deleted all lights, and then brought in one point light again, it worked...None of the lights that were set where they were in the scene lights worked at all.
What kind of lights are you using? Emissive lights don't work in Filament.
Any of the basic lights, and I am NOT trying to use filiment, it is way too washed out for me and I don't currently want to spend time trying to learn how to change things in it. I am trying to set them up in texture shaded mode for an IRAT render.
