"Hide Items I Own" Glitching Searches?

Is anyone else getting massive glitches depending on whether or not this box is checked off? It's showing no results in searches when checked and I have to reload the page to have results actually show up.  The same is also happening when it's unchecked.  I think this is depending on how many items I already own are showing up in the search.

It seems like they changed searches so that if only one item pops up, you jump straight to that item's page.  This seems to be what's messing up searches.  This feature is terrible and I would much rather see it just jump to a search page every time. It is incredibly valuable to know if I searched for something and only one product shows up.

If I could only change one thing about the market place it would be to get rid of this box completely or to have it defaulted to unchecked. I find seeing stuff I already own in searches to be immensely helpful for a variety of reasons.  I literally never want that box checked during searches.

I agree - I understand in the old software of yester-year it was useful as I don't think there was a mechanism to prevent re-purchase of owned products, but now there are other controls in place to do this its pretty redundant. The browser deals addon actually adds a checkobx for showing only items owned, which is far more useful than the opposite!

I like having the button when using the regular store filters to browse through the main store so you aren't sifting through a bunch of stuff you already own. However, I've been having problems with it in searches as well. In Chrome, I can't get it to show anything I already own in searches no matter how many times I click it on or off. After trying a search in Edge, I had to do the search twice to get items to show. Then, when I unchecked "hide items I own," everything from my search vanished until I clicked it on and off a few times. That's when it finally showed the search results and the items I own all at once. That feature that causes the search to jump to a product page if there's only one item found is really annoying to me also.

Could not agree more.  Those browser addons have revolutionized my ability to shop at DAZ.

So many things are worse since the Storepocalypse.  They can't really do a whole lot with Daz Deals until the store sucks less.

I actually really want to see items I own. Sometimes I forget the name of something, or am searching for what is inside a set I bought and I want to review the store item description. Hiding it, and rehiding it even when I uncheck the button can be frustrating

I totally get that.  We could both be made happy if they allowed you to set it as a default one way or another.

My problem isn't with the default.  It's with the jumping to the product with no way to go back without logging out.

  • It gets worse than that too. In addition to jumping to the page if there is only one result, if there are no results based on items you don't own, it will act as if there are no items with an exact match to your term, and will instead find items with similar names. The old store would do something similar (e.g., there are no results for "sheos", here are some results for "shoes"), but because of the difference in results based on whether or not you own the item, it means people are getting different results for the same search term.

Of course, it seems like the new search is also only matching the titles of products and not words within the description anyway, so you're better off just searching through your library if you know it's something you own. The whole thing is a huge failure, feature wise, and I still haven't seen any response to indicate that the company acknowledges the problem, much less plans to fix it.

Yeah it's not working well at all and that just needs to be fixed period.

It's not consistent either.  And if I search for motorcycles I get nothing; motos brings me a whole bunch of stuff.  The next time I try... nothing.  I too use it to try to remember what I have and what it's called, but often also if I need a prop.  Do a search for something and ... good luck with that.  Sucks.

I doubt that Daz understands how their customers use the store. If they understood how essential the search function is to sales, then they might hasten to fix it. I don't SHOP at Daz anymore because the lack of a search function thwarts my efforts.

Now, if they implemented true search parameters (including Vendor) on the Product Library, then I would be able to at least use that (although I would still be unable to shop).

  • One thing I also want to do in the latest mass 'deals' is to limit items to my wishlist to see if any are covered. It's probable that at least some of my wishlist items are included in the 20,000 covered, but if there is no quite way of checking, my money goes unspent. A 'wishlist' filter needs to be added.

The store search is a PITA at the moment. I can't seem to find anything with it, often getting zero results even when searching for a term included in items on page 1 of the store.

I do wonder what the store 'upgrade' achieved other than irritated customers.

    Regards,

    Richard.

I've been having similar problems. I use the hide owned items checkbox a ton and would always like to have the option, but the store search is really broken for me after the update and I end up just googling items if I want to find their store page quickly.

I like predictive stuff when it's suggesting things I might not know about, but I have never seen any real benefit in systems that try to outthink the user so they don't have to worry their pretty little head with confusing multiple options. It feels like that's what's happening here.

Google found that only one percent (1%) of users made use of the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button.  Still, since it excluded alternative search results, and the opportunity to sell ads, it's estimated that 1% cost them USD 110 million a year in ad revenue.  In Daz's case, it prevents Daz from including unpurchased assets in search results because of how "Hide Items I Own" is configured.

And Daz thought that would be a good idea.
