I Love the Flak Jacket

I've been hoping forever for a modern flak jacket! I love it. Thank you Antfarm.
Just a quick test render.

Here it is again without the t-shirt underneath. (The shirt and pants are from the Ultimate Military set.)
Just playing with the diffuse... the vest is broken into several material zones so it's easy to change the color.
Hey Thanks, I wanted one too. I figured there was at least one more person out there thinking the same : )
Hello, SGCBearcub.
Nice renders! I like the way the jacket looks in the store too. I have it in my cart, atm. Just thinking about waiting until tomorrow to pull the trigger, in case there's some awesome Sunday sale email. ;)
I hope this isn't too off topic. I like the grass too. (HAHA insert sophomoric humor here.) It has a little bit of a Van Gogh look to it in the center. May I ask how you got it to look so good? I've been researching how I can use DimensionTheory's Tiler Shader to add some depth to some fur material.
Thanks for sharing.
Wonder how easy it'll be to have it say 'Writer' on the front like the one Richard Castle wears in the Castle series. I'm rubbish at textures...
Hi Shades of Knight,
I can take no credit unfortunately :-) That's a terrain that comes with the Rock and Grass Shader Bundle. Pretty much all I needed to do was hit render. It even comes with a sky and lights if you want to use them. They render a bit brighter than the lights I used in the render above.
just wanted to say my thanks to antfarm as well. I have been looking for a "normal" one for some time now. This looks great. Not sci-fi or fantasy, just real and practical. Thanks.
Hi TesseractSpace.
I'm still learning a lot, but this is something that I've been able to work out. You can pull the texture into an image editor like Photoshop or GIMP (the jacket has a blank patch according to the product page). Rename the file by using the "Save As..." function, BEFORE you make any adjustments. Then just create a text layer in position and type the desired text. Flatten the image and save it to the same folder to easily find it and bring it up in DAZ on the Diffuse channel of the jacket. How easy it is depends upon your comfort with image manipulation. For me, it's a quick process, once I had it worked out. Hope this helps.
Not sure if this breaks a rule? But I like that show , Castle, as well so....
Hi AntFarm!
That was fast! Nice touch with the peeling/fading decal. I have never seen the show, but I know that Malcolm Reynolds is in it. ;) SERENITY!
I'm no lawyer or copyright/trademark specialist, but I don't think you're breaking any rules with that according to the way I understand it. I think something as vague as that design has to be incorporated with other elements that are recognizable as part of the show, in order to get into trouble. Even then, I think you could even claim it to be parody in the context of 3D. Moreover, many franchises are opening their doors to "fan-fiction," which this could possibly be. Take that with a grain of salt, though. As I've stated, I'm no expert; it's just a couple of coppers from someone who's been exposed to copyright rules since 2000. If it were me, I'd definitely consult a specialist, if I planned to sell it. :)
Thanks for the direction to the bundle. It looks like a nice one.
I think we are OK plus it's free here so I'm not making money from it. But anyone needing it feel free to drag it to your desktop. Just click it first as it's bigger than this shows.
It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the flak jacket. Many thanks!
Very useful. I am always on the lookout for practical bodyarmor. Thanks for making this.
please make this for poser. This would be such a useful item in my runtime collections!!!
Any plans on black and dark green textures to make it a military version? I do like the look of it... Could be what we need for some personal armour with available military clothing.
Anyone know if this fits to Genesis 2 F/M without problems?
Have tried dropping in a camo pattern into the Diffuse slot and just keep the bump maps as is. You may get something you could use.
As for making it for Poser I will take a look and see what it would take.
LOL!
Best part of that entire series. ;-P
Could you make it for standard non-genesis V4 and M4 please?
I have been meaning to look into I was working on getting a creature morph to the store for Halloween Which I did so I will take a look and see. Thanks for your patience and interest.
I used it as soon as it came out.
FBI - drop the weapons!
I bought it in the end. I exported it from dazstudio then imported it into poser and fitted it using crossdresser.
It looks okay. Enough to do the job.
Here is another one using it ;-)
Meet Mr Bacon!
With some effort (and the help of Sickleyield's Clothing Breast Fixes For Gen2F) it will fit Genesis2F/Victoria6, but the text gets terribly warped. It really needs rigid chest and back plates, just like real bullet proof vests have, to keep these areas in shape.
Other than that it's brilliant!
Cheers!
