Adding a 2060KO to a 2080ti?? I have the Verdict!!!!

I just recently found out you can just plop in another video card and DAZ will use it. Well I replaced my 2060ko with a 2080ti Last summer but I never sold it. When I read about adding a card I thought I would try. Well, I am amazed The results from the official benchmark below are without overclocking but LOTS of moving air. From what I have read, the memory defaults to the smaller card. So that would mean 6gigs is all I get. Well check out the picture below and let me know what you think. I was rendering a large scene that I could not get to work before. Total VRam used was something like 13Gb. How is that?

Just using the single EVGA 2080ti FTW 3 Ultra

Adding a EVGA 2060 KO

2021-01-20 22:10:50.798 Total Rendering Time: 2 minutes 2.13 seconds

I thought that was just cool

  • Each card is used independently - if the scene fits into 6GB both cards will be used, if it exceeds 6GB the 2080Ti will be used but the 2060 KO will drop out.

In such a configuration, does it make sense to use the 2060 to run monitor(s) and the 2080 ti for rendering? I've read that's one way to get the most out of the hardware.

I run two 2080tis for rendering and a 2070 for the display. For some people this is overkill, but it lets me run other programs while my renders are going. I wouldn't play high performance video games while a render is going, but I watch videos, surf the web, work in Potoshop, etc... So, yes, if you already have both cards in, use the 2060 for the displayes. You will want to make sure whichever card is running your monitor is plugged into your monitor and mounted in the first PCIe slot.
