In Layman's Terms, how to save a pose with a smart prop

I've been reading through past threads, but everything has just gone over my head (I'm having one of those evenings).

So, I've attached a picture of the pose and prop that I want to save.

The cane isn't smart propped to the hand yet, as I've only just gone back to working on this (I need more motivation in my life).

A quick tutorial or step-by-step tutorial would be wonderful (if possible).

Thanks.

Is there any reason you don't want to save this as a scene subset?

Seems to be a popular topic this week ;-)

PAs also supply simple pose presets for hands to hold props, with figure selected load smart prop. That method works fine too.

Because I don't have the character that these poses are meant for, on my laptop.

    Thanks for the link. ^^

I can do the hand poses (I've done quite a few in the past year or so). I've just forgotten how to save poses.

Are you saying you want to save the pose with the prop but not save the character? I guess you want to add your character later.

I would save it as a Scene (not subset) and when you have your character ready add him, save the pose to your library and then apply it to you new character, then delete the old character. Things will not exactly line up perfectly but you can tweak that later.
