Questions about scripts

ImagoImago Posts: 5,271

Someone knows if there are scripts that mirrors and swaps poses of a select body part (or whole figure) in one click? I have the MCasual's one but it requires me to select the action button (Swap or Mirror), I would like to have those actions separated and doable in a single click on the scripts pane. It would allow me to do the action without interrupting my workflow.

Also, there's a way to add a keyboard shortcut to a script without creating a custon action? My menu is getting really huge with all those scripts.

Thanks for any answer.

    Not quite one click.

I'm not on my DAZ machine so I'll have to do it from memory. This is to mirror a pose.

    1. Select a part of the character.
    2. Choose menu option 'Edit| Figure| Symmetry' which will open a window.
    3. In first dropdown combo box, choose 'Root' rather than 'Selected'.
    4. In second 'Propagation' dropdown combo box, choose 'Recursive'
    5. In third combobox, choose 'Swap Left and Right'
    6. In fourth combo box referring to trunk nodes, choose 'Mirror about Y axis'
    7. Press OK

Not one click but 12. Not sure the 11 clicks more than you asked for would shorten my life by a noticable amount even though I am in the process of posting one or two or thirty freebie poses and mirrors on Rendo at the moment.

    Hope this helps.

    Richard.

Thanks for the answer but, as I already said, I'm using the MCasual's script that needs two clicks. smiley I want to get rid of one of those clicks, not add more. wink

I'm also using a tablet as "deck board", one touch and I can run a script or load a program from that, so no clicks at all, just a touch.

To be clear, you are asking to have the script perform a specific action only rather then giving you a choice of Swap or Mirror. You would like one that simply Mirrors and another that Swaps.

  • I feared you might be doing something like that. Hard to think of a way shortening it below the two.

    Good luck with it.

Since the code of Mcasuals script's can be viewed, you could create a copy, change the code to perform the one action, and do the same for another copy for the second action.

Yes, I would like to have one script for Mirroring and one for Swapping, recursive action for both.

MCasual is a "Teacher" he did not just give you a fish he tought you "How to fish". His scripts are usually commented and can easily be modified to suite your needs. Will have a quick look, Which exact script are you referencing?

Way to Go! if you are looking for single click. Very easy to use.
