Anyone Use Fiverr to have Daz Assets made?

edited January 2021 in The Commons

I saw a post by Sevrin ealier and it got me thinking....

Has anyone here used Fiverr for their Daz3D Modeling needs?
https://www.fiverr.com/categories/graphics-design/character-modeling?source=category_tree

I am thinking about it but not sure what to ask for... or ask of the Artist I would hire.

Basically, I'd want a character modeled that I could then import to daz as G8F or G8.1F character.
I got a picture of what I want, now I just need to know the right "Artist Words" to use so that we can be on the same sheet of music.

What file type, how it needs to be rigged etc etc... be gentle I am a virg... newbie.

Any help?

I've been interested in this too, and I was hoping there would be some useful or informative responses here.

Basically for Fivver you want something digital made you pay them and they make, it's hit or miss if they're any good at it.  Seen a few youtubers callling on them to make things and don't seem all that professional to me...lol

I used the cgtrader Projects page to have a specific prop made in Obj format for only 50 USD which i thought was worth it.

saves me learning how to model.  Im more of a substance painter/marvelous designer person.

You could probably ask any 3d character artist to make a morph.  Provided they just move around existing geometry, you should be able to add to Daz via morph loader pro.

  • Hey folks... thanks for the replies/IMs

I have some experience using Fiverr for other things, and have been fairly happy with the results.

So, I am a bit of a risk taker, so I don't mind shelling out $50 for somebody who seems able, to make me a skulpt.

My "idea" is probably going to require more scuplting and less morphing, but if I wanted to ask somebody to sculpt a figure, that I could then bring into daz as a G8.1/G8 Character, what am i asking for.
Sculpt as an .obj, and from there.. how do I get it to a G8... that could wear G8 Clothes and use G8 Add on products?

For making morphs with obj.'s, the G8 must be exported without eyelashes, or other attachments, at base resolution and 0 subdivision. I think there's also scaling for other software like Zbrush. When the obj. is imported the sculptor must take care not to add or remove vertices when sculpting. After the sculpting is complete, you go to Morph Loader Pro and import from there.

I can't recall the rest of the steps for Morph Loader Pro, at the moment. But it's very important that nothing is added or taken away from the imported/exported obj.

After that it's rigging the shape. (I don't know how to do it without Zev0's utility, sorry.)

The morph should be saved as a morph asset by the supplier, and the .dsf file from the Data folder should then be sent to the buyer - sharing OBJs is not permitted.

how is your project? have some photo? we are not on fiverr and surely I'm not taking your project (very busy with Dubainese people) BUT probably your project is doable with simple morphs on the DS Store.

I'm not an expert at shopping for morph makers. My thinking if I was seeking one, would be to see who is already working along the vein of what I would be seeking, and ask them if they take on commissions. For example, if I wanted a monster, I would ask RawArt. If I wanted a particular female, I would ask TritiumCG {gallery at DeviartArt}. If I just wanted a very basic item or fanart [which has to have no monies involved I might ask over in the Freebies make-a-request thread and see what happens. If I wanted to buy a ready-made character, I would post an image in the Commons and ask for help to find the morphs to make it. And if for some reason I really had to seek from total strangers, I would be inclined to seek of those who have a profolio {because everybody has their own "accent" to their work} who are modeling with Zbrush. Just my 2 cents ;-)

n.b. For sculpting, that would not be morphs. That would either be an entire new figure [and all the rigging, corrections morphs, etc. that would be necessary - and the $$$] or possibly with making some geografts.

  • Never a DS asset, but I've used several for Blender models. Like @Faeryl Womyn said, it's hit or miss. Most came back with things that totally exceeded my expectations, but others clearly showcased someone else's work as their own and I've actually had to cancel two orders. But many more were actually quite good.

I've used many Fiverrs for voice over work, and the vast majority have been stellar.
