Jagged shadows plus question about saving canvases?

in The Commons
Does anyone know how to fix these sorts of jagged shadows when using sun lighting (image below)? I've checked all the usual suspects: environmental lighting resolution at both 2048 and 4096, subD is 3, tried both soft and sharp corners, etc, nothing makes any difference.
Also, is there a way to save canvas renders as anything other than EXR? I'd like to just save them as PNGs because I need to assemble and edit them in Clip Studio Paint (which doesn't support 16-bit color or EXRs) and that's because the current version of Photoshop is a PIECE OF SH**.
Thanks.

With regard to the jagged shadows, there used to be a bug where if your character/focal point of render was way off the centre of the world axis, it would introduce artifacts - this can also happen with certain lights IIRC, can't remember if it was spot or point lights...
You can't save canvases as anytihng but EXRs, but what you can do is render multiple passes of your scene, while selecting a different active canvas (what you see in the render window)) to be saved as your PNG render each time. You have to click the little tab on the left edge to bring up the options, and then switch the active canvas. But that can get really tedious. Why not use GIMP instead of Ps?
NB: I use Affinity Photo, which has a free 90-day trial right now, and have no problems with EXRs.
I have never been able to get anything but a black image myself using GIMP, Blender, Image Magic or anything else to open a DAZ canvas
so good luck
it must be user error on both my computers as obviously others can do it and I can open other exr files
I still have not discovered what I have been doing wrong the past couple of years
Octane does render passes, they work AFAIK in DAZ studio free tier, not tried yet only my previous paid one
you can save those as png
Silias: That's interesting and makes sense, although my figure is still mostly in the center of the scene. Could be an issue with the sun, I don't recall having this problem with HDRs or scene lighting.
Sevrin: Thanks, I was pretty sure they always got saved as EXRs but just wanted to confirm. Your method is the right alternative, but I need to do a lot of renders and that would take too long for all the canvases I've got set up.
Wendy: Yeah many programs don't like EXRs and those that do often aren't always the best at converting them. Photoshop is still the best, just...if you've got an older version, keep it safe.
It might also be worth checking to see if your camera headlamp is on, this could be causing the issue too. I always set mine to none and bring in a mesh or spot light if I need more lighting.
Thanks, yeah my headlamps are always set to off (set that way in a new default scene) so I don't run into any lighting problems.
