Actually, you can have DS files under Runtime just fine but it requires a bit of effort and maybe some script-writing abilities. DS will show duf/ds/dsa files in Runtime as long as there's a pz2/cr2/mc6 file with the same name. I keep all the content under Runtime (even if I'm not a Poser user) because I hate jumping from DS files to Poser files and back and I don't use smart content or DIM for installing. Whenever I install something, I unpack it to a temporary directory, then move it manually. If it's genesis/ds content, I run a script that creates empty pz2/cr2 for each duf/dsa/ds that lacks it. If it's an older genesis content that uses .dsf files outside of "data", I rename it to .duf. It works fine even if I can't really recommend this method unless you know what you are doing. Yes, if you know what you're doing and are ready to do all that extra work you can indeed put them in the Runtime. I'm a bit too lazy for that though ^^

I don't use the smart content, but I do use the DIM to install my DAZ purchases to my temporay runtime. I let the DIM do the work of downlading everything to the directory I told it to use, and open the zips for me. Then I move the stuff into my main runtime so I know where it is. I find DIM saves me time, but it is a personal choice for everyone.
I also used to make the Poser dummy files for everything so I didn't have to keep bouncing back and forth between the DS formats and the Poser formats. I gave it all up somewhere around DS 4.0/Genesis/.DUF files since Genesis didn't work in Poser originally anyway.
Now, I'm with Leana and too lazy to bother with the extra work. :)

Thanks for the great tips DG (Hope it is alright to call you that).
Sure, everyone calls me DG. I know I don't want to type DestinysGarden everytime I want to talk to myself either. ;-)
Shout anytime for help. I hope this thread has been useful. I'll post screen shots and give a small rundown of using DIM to install to a temporay directory if anyone would find it useful. Actually, there isn't much to tell. Look for the gear icon on the uper right corner, and then you can pick the location you want DIM to download to, and where you want it to install to. It's quite slick and very customizable.

From my understanding you already organise your runtime to help you find things in Poser? If this is true than you need to organise new content prior to scanning for content in DS otherwise it could cause you problems if you shift things later. I mainly use DS but I used to do that prior to DS4 and starting to use categories so I get why you would want to do that.

I organise my categories section in a different way to Adam which is why I decided to post.

First when scanning for new content(Adam shows this on his video) I tick mark the new content, this helps me to find and categorise new content.. Then I go to my DS and Poser formats and find the new content. I've found that by right clicking on the folders for the new item and clicking create category from folders/subfolders that I can organise it more easily in categories. Some things don't show up in unassigned but show up under wardrobe but if you go to the daz format folder you can grab everything in one go. Once I've categorised something I mark children as seen. That way it's easy to identify any you might have missed. It will also remove items that you have categorised from the unassigned folder but it will leave the folders. Every so often I just go in and delete all the folders in there.

Just remember to export user data after installation...

    cheers
