...sounds like a fun filled afternoon.

    Let me share:

    --------------------------- Begin Night Wings -----------------------

It wasn’t all that unusual for a dead body to show up on Rachel’s porch. But they were usually full dead, this one was still moving and knocking on the door. At midnight.

Rachel sighed and got out of bed. “Who would send a zombie over at this hour?”, she said aloud. “This had better be important!”

Rachel walked to the front door, stopping only to pick up a flask of holy water she always kept near the door.

Ok, what do you want” she shouted through the door. “This had better be good, I’m armed.”

“I ammm sooooory toooo disturbbbb youuu, bbbuuttt Missssstresss Caitlinnn requesssts a meeeeeeting tooooooooomorrow mossssst urgentlyy on a maaaaaaaatter offff ssssssssssssome importttanceeeeee.”

Rachel shook her head. Caitlin had always been a bit strange, even for a priestess, but this was out of hand.

“Very well, tell her I can meet her at the Temple of Our Lady Erzulie tomorrow morning around 10. And ask her to make sure there’s fresh coffee.”

“Verrrry goooooooood Missssssssssss Rachellllll, I willlllll passssssss that on. Have a gooooooooood nightttttttttt.”

The zombie shambled off as Rachel shook her head. Things were getting ridiculous lately, normally a living messenger would hae done the job but maybe, with all the murders lately, sending someone that’s already dead might be the wisest move.

Next day, Rachel rolled out of bed and head in to make coffee, pausing briefly to check the phone for voicemail. Not much there, she thought, just the usual ads and a couple of requests for help she’d check into later. She turned on the lighted “DeLacroix Paranormal Investigations” sign and started the coffee.

What could Caitlin want, thought Rachel. They tended to move in different circles, Caitlin with the high-and-mighty cream of the local Voudoun temples while I spend my time on the street? Is a puzzlement.

Rachel managed to get breakfast and coffee down before the first visitor of the day. She still had 2 hours before she needed to meet Caitlin, so there might be time for one client.

Rachel walked to the front door and peered out the peephole. He seemed normal enough, a middle-aged man in a plain t-shirt and jeans.

“Good morning, how can I help you?” said Rachel.

The man smiled and said, “Oh, it’s how I can help YOU. I highly recomemnd canceling your meeting with Mistress Caitlin. It would be.. Unfortunate.. If you met today.”

Rachel thought - this is NOT how I expected today to start.

“Well, mister, if you know Caitlin, then you know it’d be pretty stupid to turn her down. She doesn’t have the world’s best temper when she doesn’t get her way.”

The man shrugged. “Have it your way. Don’t say you weren’t warned. You will.. Regret.. Not taking my advice.”

Rachel reached into the pocket behind the door and drew out a small bundle that contained rue, grave dust, and chicken foot.

“I think it’s time you gon on your way before YOU end up regretting this visit.

He smirked, and said “I’ll save you the trouble of driving me off with your little toy.”

Drawing a flaming symbol in the air, he stepped into it and vanished.

“Well, I’ll be damned” said Rachel. “A sorcerer. This is not good.”

Rachel thought: it’s time to get armed, this looks serious.

Turning off the OPEN sign, Rachel walked into a small, darkened room and lit a black candle.

“What to carry, what to carry” she mumbled to herself. Warding necklace, definitely. Undead repellent? Not a bad idea.

She glanced briefly at a small wooden case carved over its entire surface with odd runes. No, not yet, she thought. Keep that as a surprise.

Digging around in a large crate, Rachel found a holster and put it on, dropping her favorite weapon: a Smith and Wesson .38 Zombie Dropper loaded with silver bullets filled with holy water.

    “That’ll do it” she said.

The weather was nice for a late Fall, so Rachel dug the motorcycle out of the garage. It was a pretty easy trip to Caitlin’s temple and she parked the bike near the back entrance, just in case she had to get out quickly.

Rachel walked to the side door and knocked.

Anna, Caitlin’s personal assistant and junior High Priestess opened the door.

“Hi, Rachel! Thanks for coming over on such short notice, but this is pretty important.”

“I figured it was hot, especially since you sent a zombie over. There are still people out there that think it’s fun to shoot them.”

Anna shook her head. “I guess some people never get used to it. Anyway, please come in, I made fresh coffee like you wanted.”

Anna led Rachel down a long hallway decorated with statues of past High Priestesses, coming to a thick oak door.

“Wait a bit while Caitlin takes down the wards” said Anna. “We’re being extra cautious now.”

Rachel felt worried. Normally nobody would dare bother Caitlin, the temple grae was full of people that had tried.. Those that didn’t end up zombified, or cast physically into some random astral Hell.

    “Ok, in we go.”

Rachel walked into Caitlin’s work room. Anna closed the door, and waited as Caitlin murmured a spell to re-set the wards.

“Rachel, homey, come give Mama a big hug!”

Rachel walked over to Caitlin and proceeded to get smothered in Caitlin’s arms. Caitlin was not a small woman, but was in perfect health and pretty physically strong as well as packing a powerful magickal punch.

Caitlin let Rachel go, and she sat down on the worn recliner. “Something really serious must be going on for you to take these kinds of precautions. So.. What’s going on?”

Caitlin had a strange look on her face. “Rumor in the Shades has it that you’ve somehow managed to attract the attention of one of your dead husband’s old enemies. It’s said that she’s not willing to let you interfere like your husband did.”

Rachel stiffened. She thought “An enemy of Jason’s? But he’s been dead 10 years, and I haven’t worked on any of Jason’s cold cases. Who would want to come after me for something I probably wouldn’t do?”

Caitlin sighed, then looked deep into Rachel’s eyes. “I don’t now WHO or WHAT it is, but I do believe that, somehow, this is all related to the manner in which Jason passed on.”

Rachel felt a deep anger.. “If only I could find who or what killed him”, she thought, “I’d do my best to kill it off!”

Anne cleared her throat, and said “Caitlin and I have made arrangements for you to leave New Orleans for a while, until this blows over. We’ll bring you back when we’re sure it’s safe.”

Rachel jumped to her feet. “What, don’t you think I can handle whatever this is? I’m no weakling and I have plenty of resources to take down anything that comes after me. I’m not going anywhre and I’m not about to back down from whatever this is!”

Anne said “We thought you’d say that, so.. We were prepared.”

Anne spoke a single word and Caitlin murmured a short spell. Rachel found she couldn’t move, or speak.

“You’ll be spending a relaxing vacation in San Francisco, enjoying the sights.. Whether you like it, or not”, said Caitlin.

    Everything went black.

    -----------end for now ----------------------------

Really enjoyed that, moar please *wants*

is blue ocean reflecting the blue of the sky, or, is blue sky reflecting the blue of the ocean?

where do sunset colors come from?

how fast would you have to fly to keep the sunset in view as it moves down the horizon?

normal maps displace in 3 directions?

Terminator moves at 1600KM/hour at the equator, slower at the poles :)

    http://www.universetoday.com/73622/terminator/

Oh PS Normal displacement is in one direction e.g. the direction that the surface normal points. Vector displacement is in the direction specified by a 3D vector e.g. xyz + angle :)

Bought Wizardry 7 & 8 on Steam. 7 won't install because of some outdated install script (Won't run on modern operating systems because said script can't be run by an administrator, and so it will just sit there trying to install for all eternity) but W8 installs just fine. Didn't think Steam really dealt with archaic games, but I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised since they had Morrowind. Well, I'm still a bit surprised since Morrowind isn't a DOS-Era game like W7

    1. Well, think about it...when it's dark but there's a Moon, the water reflects the Moon, right?

    2. The light being filtered through more of the atmosphere than when it's high in the sky. More and more blue is filtered out as it goes through more air.

complaint: was reading about some budget gaming PCs and video cards. People are bashing $100 128 bit video cards with 2 GB of memory because they are slow. Hey, not everyone has money to buy/build a $1,500 I7 computer with a 256 bit NVidia graphics card SLI/Cross fire whatever. Leave us budget gamers alone! We (those on a budget) don't make $60 an hour like the gamers do.

sorry, had to get that off my chest

    .
..looked at it and most are items I already got ,either as the monthly or weekly freebie (save character figure bundles I don't usually bother with and they usually have mostly fantasy and skimpwear). Odd too that the Deck the Halls 2 bundle is priced at 45$ (8 Dream Home sets) when the individual products by themselves come to only a few cents shy of 8$ as each are 99¢ right now as they are included in the "Modern" themed sale for the PC Anniversary.

I'm still waiting on a nice discount on the base Gen6 figures so I can get Steph6 and the Slender Steph morph which will help even more with my "teen gene pool".
