    Anyway major complaints tonight.

--Tired of being a second (maybe third) class citizen to the automobile. Was walking home after picking up my usual slices of Saturday Night Pizza. While I was crossing the entrance to the car park of the natural food mart someone decided to turn into the lot and kept driving at me while was clearly in their path. So, I do the "eye contact' thing only to get a dirty look from the diver of the car while which the front bumper bumper is scant inches from my legs and still moving towards me. (where I live pedestrians in a sidewalk in the process of crossing a driveway have total right of way). Guess his tofu, sprouts, and Kombucha were more important than my well being. "Save the planet, just stay out of my way". ;-). Earlier this afternoon was almost hit by someone who made a turn without using their turn signal

In the olden days cars were sposed to get smaller and have failsafe auto navigation. Instead they got bigger and come with not safe manual navigation
...according to "futurologists" of the 50s & 60s, cars were supposed be flying by now. Given the carelessness and ineptitude of the two "manual navigation units", that I witnessed today, I am very relieved they don't.

I think hovercraft with collision avoidance tech might be the interim answer. I keep thinking of all the moving parts that can be eliminated, including tires, brake discs and drums, shock absorbers and srpings and front end linkages for steering. And road work wouldn't be required any longer.

But even then, I think a complete auto-pilot navigation system would be best. Then these people who seem intent on reading the morning newspaper while barreling down the highway at 80mph would be in heaven, and the rest of us would be safe from them.

    What? I can dream!

..In Germany they have been conducting experiments with auto nae vehicles.

I would love to see a transportation service that employed electric or hybrid self guided vehicles which could be "subscribed" to on monthly basis for commuting. it would be a of fusion of "car share" and transit. In the morning it is scheduled to pick you up and take you to work, then it goes off to serve other customers rather than sitting idle for a good part of the day. At the end of the workday it (or another like it) returns to pick you up at a predetermined time to take you home. it can also be set up for some degree of flexibility, so if you need to say, stop at the market on the way home, that can be arranged. No driver to pay, no crowds to deal with, no standing around waiting at bus or tram stops, no transfers. This could be the future of "mass transit". If it was priced between the cost for for a monthly transit pass and the average monthly expenses or owning a car (not just the fuel cost), I feel it could be viable.

I'd certainly sign up for it.

bah, got into another argument with my elderly relatives. Long story short: They asked me I ordered the computer yet or something about the shipping. I thought they were finished asking the question because they stopped talking. I then proceeded to answer the said question and offer an explanation. Elderly relatives relatives rudely cut me off and told me not to raise my voice and to stop talking. I like: "But I thought you asked me if I have ordered the computer online?"

They've heard me talk loud like this for 20 years. My brother talks loudly also. It is only now that they notice that I talk loudly? Anyways, I had to raise my voice because the TV was on and they asked me to repeat myself. Then they had the nerve to say I don't have any manners. Yes, they changed the subject from the computer I ordered to my manners. Forgot what the rest of the argument was about but I really didn't care. I'm an adult who can take care of myself. Can't wait some of my relatives move out to an apartment or condo.

I never did answer their question about the computer I ordered. Their loss. The computer is supposed to arrive on Thursday or Friday.

    sorry for the long rant.

    ...more site weirdness this morning

Check forums email inbox, click on link of ebot, discover I'm not signed in (as usual these days), click to sign in and get taken to a low res HTML page, next have to go back & forth again between the store site, inbox, and thread, click on ebot link to thread yet again and finally am signed in.

...what a total PITB. Tell me, his is supposed to be an improvement?
