...ell out most of the day watching NFL football with a friend. Big Win for Green Bay defeating Tom Terrific and the Patriots. Another nail biter as Green Bay could only mange to score field goals (4) in the Red Zone. Had they been touchdowns as in previous games, it would have been a blowout. Still the offence came up with the important plays when it counted. New Englnd missed a field goal lte in the gme which would have made it 2 point game and the Packers basically took control for the final two and half minutes., much to the displeasure of Tom Brady who threw a hissy fit after Green Bay converted 3d down play to seal the deal.

The NFC leading Arizona Cardinals were also upset by Atlanta 29 -18 giving them the same record as Green Bay however, they have the tie breaker based on conference win percentage (for now).

I think you missed the comma between Who and drink. That was two separate things TroutFace is going to do...watch Dr. Who, and drink beer.

It's Monday. Neck is killing me. Was 24F when I woke up, the high today will be 37F, and yet I spent all day Saturday in a t-shirt.

    :blank: :blank:

Should be back into the mid-50s by Thursday, though! :)

I hope everyone is staying warm if it's cold where you are, or staying cool if it's warm where you are!

I have hot tea, though, so it's not all bad today. :cheese:

...34° and very grey here. Won't be much better than that for the rest of the day.

    Complaint's (besides the above)

--Store still buggered,. put the update for Reality4 in my cart, price showed as 19.95$, then when I went to check out it showed 29.95$.
--Have to run errands later. Considered putting them off until tomorrow when it's supposed to be sunny and a bit warmer, but strong winds are once again in the forecast.

    Non Complaints:

--Have Reality4 (had to go back & forth a couple times between the cart and checkout pages to get the right price to show).
--Wisconsin still #2 in NCAA BB despite the come from behind win against Georgetown last week.
--Discovered was already logged into the forums after clicking email link to this thread.
--50% Sale on Resource and Add On products If you need shader stuff or merchant resources this is the time to buy.

A question about Reality: is Luxrender really THAT much better than 3Delight? Caustics would sure be nice, though.. I'm seriously considering passing on another audio plugin and grabbing Reality4 while it's on sale...

...Reality is an unbiased render engine that employs "real" lighting physics. 3Delight and Firefly fake lighting though use of shaders.

Effectively Reality gives a more realistic quality to renders that can be on par with the pro grade software like 3DS or expensive 3rd party render engines like Octane.

While rendering does take longer there are some advantages.

--You can pause and resume a render.
--You can run the render process without having to leave the scene being rendered in Daz Studio open (or for that face even needing Daz Studio open at all)
--You can adjust the rendering and output quality on the fly without having to restart the process.
--You can assign any number CPU threads you have available to the rendering process.
--Any item (except a Daz primitive) can be turned into a mesh light, so for example, you can have lightbulbs that actually are light emitters.
--Lux uses a "progressive" rather than bucket" driven process which lets you see the entire scene as it is rendering. which make it easier to spot any errors in setup or placement without having to wait until the process is finished.
--Lux also allows for full as well as a hybrid GPU assisted rendering.
--I have noticed my system running at lower temperatures using Reality/Lux than with 3Delight

    Some differences:

--The Standard Daz lights (as well as UE and the Advanced lights) do not work well in Lux, however, there are Lux based lights as well as gels that are provided through the Reality plugin. Again these all use "real lighting" physics (bounce, AO, etc...).
--Lux uses it's own surface settings (which Reality converts Daz surfaces/textures to). There are also custom (more "real world") settings that can be applied (similar to what can be done in Daz through the Surfaces Editing tab) though they are no where near as complex to use as Carrara's. Reality4 also now also handles the new Daz SSS shaders.

Below is a comparison of a scene which I am working on. The first is the 3DL render the second is Reality (2.5)/Lux.

Wow KK, thanks a TON! :cheese:

Hmmm... I'd have to re-learn all my lighting, but having mesh lights and caustics.. soooo tempting.

Having a second choice of render engine is nice, though. I think I'll get it! :cheese:

...there are also film quality settings so if you want to do something that looks like it was shot, say, using Kodachrome, you can. Some of the film settings render in B & W as well.

    Explanation

    Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy
    Description:
Scotch Ales are strong ales, also known as "Wee Heavy." In the 19th century Scotland, they'd also be known as 160/-, a nomenclature based on the now obsolete shilling currency.

Scotch Ales traditionally go through a long boil in the kettle for a caramelization of the wort. This produces a deep copper to brown in colored brew. Compared to Scottish Ales, they'll be sweeter and fuller-bodied, and of course higher in alcohol, with a much more pronounced malty caramel and roasted malt flavor. A low tea-like bitterness can be found in many examples. Best served in a "thistle" glass.

Average alcohol by volume (abv) range: 6.0-10.00%

Complaint: DIM showed about 8 updated products. I added them to the queue and then started it. Results?
Download Failed! - 4 of them
Install Failed! - 2 of them

    So that's about a 75% fail rate!

It'll be fun to play and experiment.. a good reason to stock up on beer and stay home all weekend! :cheese:

I wonder if Reality supports volumetrics.. will need to spend quality time reading up.

Can't wait to play with caustics! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Did you try it again? DIM is very sensitive to a constant ISP. I have problems cause ours goes up and down occasionally for a split second.
