Confused by Best of 2014 Sale

I'm surprised that I haven't seen a post about this so far. But am I missing something? I don't see anything different about the items in this sale category than I normally would as a PC+ member.
Of the eight items currently in the group, the four DAZ Originals (Pro Bundles for Teen Jayden 6, Olympia 6, Michael 6 & Victoria 6) are discounted at the normal 30% off. The Abandoned City 2 by Stonemason is 40% off - but this seems to be from another, unrelated promotion. The two non-DAZ/non-PA Promo items, Aging Morphs 2 Bundle HD & Genesis 2 Female Bot Armor Bundle, don't appear to be discounted at all. The only item on this list that appears to have a unique discount is Carrara 8.5 Pro at 78% off. And, to be honest, I'm not sure that's not an unrelated discount as well.
Anyway, I'm not complaining. Anytime you get a discount on something it's a bonus. I'm just confused by the fact the these items are being promoted as being part of a "SALE", yet don't appear to have any "SALE" pricing.
Like I said, I feel like I'm missing something...

The Best Of Sale only gives you a discount if you earn Punches by buying at least 5 punchable items.
There's no special PC+ involves, as far as I know. The rules of the sale for the PA also say nothing about special PC+ discounts...
Yep: buy buy buy then you get a discount to buy more for less!
;)
Ah, I see now. I didn't read the specifics of the Punch Sale as I don't usually participate in those. I just saw the link at the bottom of the newsletter under Additional Savings. I assumed since it was in the same category as the Holiday Freebies that it was a separate promotion from the Holiday Punchable thing.
Thanks for the clarification!

 Yeah, I did some math on those. If you bought all five of the currently available punchable items, you would get 20% off on the Best of 2014 items (which are, ironically, NOT punchable). The total purchase price for those five items would be $60.05. If you take the highest price Best of 2014 product(s), one of the Gen 6 Pro Bundles, you would get a total savings of $17.49 (20% x $87.47). The savings is less, obviously, the lower the original price of the the Best of 2014 product. For instance, the discount on Aging Morphs 2 Bundle HD is only $4.79 (20% x $23.95). Also, this is assuming you actually wanted all five punchable items.
So, yeah, this doesn't really seem like that great of a deal... spending ~$60 to save <$20. But then again, it's all subjective - to a certain degree. And I can hardly begrudge DAZ for sales that I don't see as big savings, especially after some of the discounts on their last couple of sales. I almost feel guilty about some of the (borderline larceny) deals I got on those... almost. It always helps to keep a calculator/spreadsheet handy as well as a keen eye for where you can finagle stacking discounts.</p>

PS That $87.47 on the Pro Bundles is the PC+ price which is already 30% off. If you are not a PC+ member, the discount is $24.99 (20% x $124.95). While it's a little bit more savings, you're still better off paying full price, $124.95, instead of the discounted price plus the total for the five punchable items: $160.01.
Although you aren't limited to one item from the list -- if you wanted all of them, plus all the ones that get rotated in for the rest of the week, you'd get the discount on all of them.
Greetings,
Well, let's play with the math a little bit. If there are 15 items you like enough to buy over the course of the next week (Saturday to end of Friday) then you can buy those items at 60% off. If you're a PC member, you also get 30% off. This is 0.7 * 0.4 or 72% off. So you'd buy a $124.95 item for $34.99. That's saving around $52.48 each. Call it $52.50. Now if you're not TRYING to maximize your 'savings', and you're just buying stuff that you would buy anyway (like Stonemason's unbelievably beautiful Contemporary Living set, or the very nice texture set for the WaFoo Goth outfit) then on Friday next week, you'll have a really sweet discount you can use.Make it better by buying store credit at 15% off (spend $29.75 to get the $35 store credit to buy a Gen6 Pro Pack!) and you've got a great discount going on (around 76.2%).
Again, this works if your natural purchasing rhythm nets you 15 items over the next week. If you're not interested, the key is to NOT worry about the 'deals' you don't get, and just keep to your regular rhythm. Don't go on tilt just to get the Gen6 Pro sets, but if you end up in a situation where you can do it, take it to town!
Personally I had a good laugh when I tried to load the 'best of 2014' set, and it had one item in it. :) I own all the Gen6 pro sets, so...yeah.

Was going to ask the same about the current one and found this, thanks.
I can't see spending a lot of money on things I'll never use to get a discount on other things I actually need. Odd sale. Nothing wrong with it, but these punch sales don't appeal to me for the reason I just stated. I think feedback is important for marketing people like me, so just want to say that I'd spend more if the sales were less complex and discounts did not depend on buying things I don't want or need.
Just give me a discount and I pull out the plastic. I don't know if others feel the same. Complexity makes me just tune out and move on and I'm probably missing sales I might buy into otherwise. It takes way to long to figure these things out and time is valuable. What I'd like is one list of everything on sale, no other requirements to get a discount. Like I said I'd probably buy more and more often.
Not a rant, just opinion. :)
Thanks again for the info in this thread, it helped.
I'm with you. No motivation to buy the best of 2014.
I had a couple of unexpected purchases from the Best of 2014 category yesterday. Due to the unexpected Minotaur 6 release, I reached 15 punches earning an additional 40% off Featured PA stores, plus 60% off Best of 2014 category.
Yesterday Bluebird 3D and Sickleyield were both Featured PA stores = 40% OFF and both had products in the Best of 2014 category. Motel Bundle for Bluebird 3D and Shackled! for Genesis 2.
Resulting savings:
Motel Bundle $74.76 - 40% Featured PA Store - 40% Additional featured PA Store - 60% Best of 2014 = $10.77 (86% Off)
Shackled! for Genesis 2 $13.95 - 40% Featured PA Store - 40% Additional featured PA Store - 60% Best of 2014 = $2.01 (86% Off).
More than likely, I'll be lucky if I hit 5 punches during the remaining HolliDAZ promotion unless there is another major release.
Smart shopping, Lindsey. I like to hear when people finesse the sales like that.
Excellent! :) Have fun rendering- you made out like a bandit!
Actually, I stumbled upon the savings. I carted Shackled and when it rang up $2.01, I then realized what discounts were stacking.
The best of 2014 is so deeply imbedded in the sales page it is difficult to find. Too bad, I missed it.
