Need some help moving files

I have around 8 GB of stuff on the wrong hard drive. Want to move them. My first idea was just to copy everything from My Daz LIbrary on the wrong drive to the same folder on the right drive and then delete everything from "the wrong" drive. That didn't work out to well...

I tried to uninstall with the DIM and then reinstall. Just got a bunch of yellow exclamation marks.

Before I do something more stupid; how should I do this. I don't want to - if possible to avoid - download them item by item.

So here is the question: what is the best way to move my stuff from one drive to another?

Assuming you have PC, make sure the Studio/Studio4 folders following directories are deleted to guarantee a full removal:

    C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D
    C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D
    C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D
    C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D
    C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D

Then go into your DAZ 3D Studio app, right click the Content Library tab and select "Content BD Maintenance...". There, check "Remove Un-Mapped Base Paths and Orphans..." and "Remove Orphaned File References".

If necessary, feel free to "Reset Database" and "Re-Import Metadata" if that doesn't do everything. Some reconfiguration in the Content Directory Management may also need to be some to ensure everything goes where you are using the DIM.

I would recommend Exporting User Data first (assuming you have custom categories/tags/metadata), then adding the new location in Content Directory Manager (but don't remove the old location yet). Close DAZ Studio, then uninstall and reinstall in the new location with DIM. Then start DS and remove the old location in Content Directory Manager. If your database still has exclamation points, reset the database and re-import metadata.

Thanks alot for your input. Really appreciated.

One more question before I start. Will old scenes created with items from the C-drive still work after I have moved the items to the D-drive?

My rule of thumb is to save the data\ directories. That's where all of the custom geometry resides. You will need these files for old scenes.

As long as they were saved to a mapped content folder all the paths will be relative, so they should be fine.
